LESLIE: Welcome to the call. This is the Q&A Blitz for participants in the program. I wanted to congratulate you for being in the program and I appreciate the questions that have come in. I know a lot of you have had some trouble staying in that forward movement and that’s the main reason for doing this because I want to make sure that you guys are continuing one step at a time, because that’s what it takes. It’s not an easy program and anybody who says that it is didn’t really apply themselves because this is a program intended to stretch every one of us. Life does that and so does this program, to give us the keys that we need to be able to apply these principles in life, and make life a little bit easier.

So I organized the questions, I kind of grouped them and I’m going to start with two that came in that I thought were pretty easy. Some of them are a little harder, even for me to figure out because I’m still learning. Let me tell you that right now, that I don’t think anybody is going to come to a place of arrival. This is a learning process. I learn from each of you, the comments that come in on the forums and in emails and stuff, it’s a daily thing. So the first question that was one of the easiest. Okay, I’m going to take that one first is somebody asked if I finish, and by the way, I did not keep the names on these questions. I printed them out just questions only so I don’t want you to think that’s impersonal. I probably should have kept the names on there then I could address you by name but I’m going to keep it generic.

So the first question is if I finish the online course, will I then have unlimited access to the online program in the future? And the answer to that is that as long as you are subscribed, you will have access to those materials and to your work. It’s not something that can be saved and downloaded and reserved later. As long as you have a subscription, you have access and I just wanted to remind you this is an $847 program that was already a reduced price from what the seminar fees were adding up to be, and we put this online to be as affordable as possible for everybody but you do lose some convenience. So that’s the answer to that question. If you do want the materials for a permanent place in your success library, if you want to be able to have them portable where you don’t have to be logged in to access them, then you can always upgrade to the physical version of the program.

The second question, I really enjoyed these, I could see personality coming through these. I’m just going to read this one. This person says I love to create. I am getting the material, I understand the mindset and am able to apply it easier. I still have down times, I just understand how to think my way through them. It is awesome! So I’m following my heart, I’m working hard following the promptings I receive. I’m offering online health mentoring. My husband tells me I am crazy because I’m doing it  complementary. I wasn’t expecting the response I’ve gotten, and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and grateful. I didn’t feel like I should charge. I felt like if I just created value for others then it would in some way, be returned to me. I just don’t know how yet or where, so am I crazy? I just feel like I’m doing the right thing. What do you think? I’m loving it! I could spend all day working on it, talk about a kick! I love that comment, and really my response to that is that you’re doing what you feel like you should be doing and yes, people are going to think you’re crazy because you’re chasing a rabbit, but when it is time to start monetizing it, you will feel an urgency to figure that out. Just like you’ve had this sense that you need to be doing what you’re doing, you’ll get that same sense about monetizing it when you’ve laid that foundation.

The next section of questions that came in all went into one category that I called “Stuck On Goals”. For whatever reason, we get to a place and we feel stuck, and we need some more understanding before we feel like we can continue, so let’s just go through these one at a time. This person says I have been stuck early in the course because my goal seems so generic and big. For example, I am so happy and grateful now that we are enjoying financial prosperity. How do you work with such a big goal that is so important without watering it down?

Now before I go into the rest of these questions, before I even answer that one, I want to make sure and I should have said this at the beginning of the call, I’d like you to get a pen. If you don’t already have one, get a pen and get something to write on, and the reason I want you to do this is because it’s more important to me that you are in a mindset of paying attention to whatever impressions come to your mind, whether or not they come out of my mouth. So if I say something that triggers a thought, I want you to write that thought down and as I pose these questions, I’d also like you to see what you would say in your own heart, in your own mind. How would you answer it? How would you coach somebody through this question? Instead of thinking about it in your head and trying to reason it out or logic it out, I want you to keep your mind open and your heart open, and just listen for those impressions, those thoughts and feelings that come to your spirit, and you may end up coming up with a different answer than what I say, and what’s most important is what comes to you is going to be what’s important for you. So be ready to write those things down as they come.

So again, this person is wondering how to work with such a big goal that’s so important without watering it down. Now the statement that was written there was: I am so happy and grateful now that we are enjoying financial prosperity. That is big, that is broad and it is important but my next question would be, well what does enjoying financial prosperity really look like? Suppose you were enjoying financial prosperity right now in this moment, what would you be doing? Would you be sitting there with a smile on your face, leaning back, your fingers clasped behind your neck or your head and thinking, wow, I am enjoying financial prosperity? You know, I think a lot of people think that it’s a vague image and it’s okay if it’s vague but I would like you to, at least, come up with what one thing could you do in your family or in your own personal life, or something that would represent “aah! this is financial prosperity” because this is what I’m doing, or this is what I have, or this is how I am feeling, besides I feel good.

So when you’re stuck on a goal like that where it seems too big, don’t think it’s too big, it’s perfect. It’s perfect the way it is but do add some detail around well, what does that really mean? What does enjoying financial prosperity look like? In fact, you need to be able to write something down that is check off-able, and what I mean by that is how will you know when you’ve accomplished it? How do you know you haven’t already accomplished it? Well, you’re probably thinking well, of course I haven’t accomplished it, I still have bills! No really, how does it look when you’re enjoying financial prosperity? Because if you were to compare the way you live to somebody, say in the bush of Africa and they look at how you live and you look at how they live, they would probably think you’re already rich and already have more than you’d ever need, and so it’s important for you to be clear on what that looks like.

I’m going to move on to the next one. This person says I’m only through the welcome segment of the course but I’d really appreciate some clarification on setting goals since I visualize my goals daily and don’t want to waste time with poorly structured goals as I work my way through the course. Well the good news, the good news with this is that if it’s not quite right, it’s okay. It’s okay, the whole idea is you’ve got to keep going anyway – one page at a time, one paragraph at a time. Even if you don’t feel like you have your goal exactly nailed down perfectly, I want you to keep going anyway because the program is what helps you get that clarity on your goals. By the time you get to the midterm and you’re ready to submit your goal review statement, people submit those statements and part of it is the big long-term goal, the big life vision that you have, how you want things to be. You know, when you’re looking back on your life, what are you grateful for that you’re able to accomplish? How does it feel? How do you want to be remembered? Those are the big ones and then there’s also the short-term goal piece and the program walks you step-by-step on how to create that. Even if you turn it in to me and it isn’t quite right, that’s what that goal review certificate is all about. You turn it in to me and you have me work with you on it. For those of you who are in the online program, that’s not automatically part of the deal but there is a way to get that personal attention. You really don’t need it probably like people think they do. It is a good added benefit for someone who wants the additional confidence but in the online program, there is a module that shows you examples, real examples of goal reviews that were submitted to me, and what I did with them and what my recommendations were.

So the most important thing about this if you’re stuck early on in the course even if your goal isn’t quite right, that’s okay because the mistakes we make are feedback and if you get stuck, that’s worse than having a goal structured imperfectly and really, you’re never going to have a perfectly structured goal. I think we just need to throw that right out the window – the expectation that it’s ever going to be perfect. If we think it needs to be perfect, then we’re going to doubt whether it’ll work. When in reality, you could have a really, really lousy goal statement but believe it will work, and it’ll work.

So it really has a whole lot less to do with the words you choose than it does with the belief that you have, and the reason we work on getting a goal statement as good as we can is so that when we are affirming it to ourselves, and we’re creating that statement in our subconscious mind and passing it over to that part of us, that we’re just consciously making sure it’s as accurate as possible and you know, we’re going to make mistakes even with the best ones, but those mistakes are feedback to help us do even better the next time.

Let’s see, something else too. Write this down. I want you to consider the possibility that the way you approach this program. What if I were to say the way you go through this program is the way you approach life. So imagine you get to a place and you feel stuck. What do you do when you’re stuck? When you’re stuck, do you just set it aside and just kind of stay stuck? Or do you say “you know what, I’m stuck. I wonder if the answer to why I’m stuck is on the next page…” and you just keep going and you just keep going. Remember, you can always go back. You can always go back but just keep moving forward one step at a time, and that’s how we need to approach life too. In life, we get stuck. We feel like we’ve got all these questions, we’ve got all these pressures, we’ve got all these contradictory issues that we’re having to juggle, and conflicting problems and all of this turmoil. Okay, so we have that. Everybody has that at one time or another and throughout our lives, so what do we do in that moment? We’ve got to just do something. It doesn’t even matter if it’s the right thing because God cannot steer a parked car.

As long as you’re rolling in some direction, just keep moving in some direction, then you’re going to get those little impressions, those nudges, those thoughts, those ideas that you probably don’t even know are happening that say “oh, go this way instead, “mmm, that doesn’t feel quite right”, “uh, there’s something wrong with this” and I guarantee most of the time, you don’t even know it’s an impression. It’s just that part of you that’s helping steer you to your best self and to achieve your goals, and really it comes when you’re in motion and if you’re stuck, you’re going to get them. You’re going to get those impressions when you’re stuck that say “do something”. It’s always there. You can ignore them long enough and pretty soon they’re drowned out so much that you don’t notice them anymore. You can’t even hear them and it’s not an audible thing. It’s not with your ears, it’s just that impression in your heart that gives you an idea that you think might be your own idea. I like to think it’s an idea from God – something that helps steer you a step at a time.

Let me tell you a quick story. The point of this question I want to make is just to keep going anyway. It’s not a waste of time to keep going, even with a poorly structured goal but life is like that. Life is going to be unclear. The goals that you set are going to be unclear but you can’t stop and wait until it is clear. The clarity comes through motion. It comes through movement, it comes from falling forward. Okay, we just keep moving one step in front of the other.

I remember when my husband and I lived in California. We had just had our big major breakthrough that you see on the website. We hadn’t moved into that bigger house but we did move into a nicer house and at the time, we thought man, these principles really work! Oh my word! Well, wow if it works for that, we can triple our income and what else could we do? Well, we really, really wanted to move back to where our home was, my husband’s family and this is where I went to high school and everything. So we wanted to come back to Arizona and that was something that we just wanted really badly. Every time we came to Arizona, it felt like home and every time we went back to our home in California, it felt like we were strangers. I mean, we enjoyed living there while we were there but really it wasn’t a long-term home kind of a feeling, and so that was our desire is to come back to Arizona.

Well, we were convinced that we could have anything we wanted because we’d seen it work with this one major goal. It worked, so okay well, what do we want? Well, we want to move to Arizona, that’s what we want and how are we going to do it? I have no idea but we’re just going to do everything we can each day to get a little closer to making that happen. At the time, he worked at a company that took him two, two-and-a-half hours to drive to each day. Sometimes he’d stay there through the week and come home on the weekends. Sometimes he’d commute each day there and back, about five hours on the road, and so yeah, we were living in a nicer home but you know, the lifestyle sure wasn’t what we had in mind and so we weren’t done. Yeah, we had had a big breakthrough but we weren’t done. We didn’t have the lifestyle we were after, and hopefully we never will because it’s really through that, that desire and that drive that we keep growing and learning new things but that aside, we decided that we were going to go and shop for a home in Arizona. That’s something that we could do. That’s something that was within our power to just go look for a home, right? So when we’d go to Arizona to visit family, we’d start shopping, and we actually found a home that we were excited about and we even put a deposit down on it. We’re like okay well, if we’re committed to making this move, don’t know how we’re going to do this, but we’ll buy the house. We’ll at least make a promise that we’re ready to buy it contingent on the sale of our home back in California.

Well, part of this whole package is we had to figure out what we’re going to do for work being in Arizona and we figured well, you know, it’s a lot faster to fly to Arizona than it is to drive through Los Angeles. So we were just going to have him commute from California to Arizona every day and that was fine. It was a step closer to the ideal picture that we had in mind. Well, we got everything lined up, we even said goodbye to our friends. I mean, this is how committed we were. We knew that we just had to go as far as we could go, trusting that things were going to work out and the house would not sell and this was not even in a bad market at the time. This was just in a normal market and the house would not sell, and it was at a fair price and it was a beautiful home, and there was really no reason why it shouldn’t have, and we were getting so frustrated and so agitated, and upset and like what’s wrong? How come the laws aren’t working for us now? What are we doing wrong? We’re doing everything we did before and getting upset and frustrated, and finally it dawned on us… well, maybe we need to ask if this is a good goal.

Okay, I know you’re all probably thinking, well duh?! but you know, we had come away from that first experience the only, like man, we can have anything! We can do anything, we can whatever, and we finally got humbled enough to go in prayer and say okay, Father what if we still feel like it’s the right thing to be in Arizona. We feel like that had already been confirmed to us. I don’t know why it’s not working now but let’s maybe propose a different idea and the idea we brought to Him was so what if we just wait a little longer, work a little harder to get our financial ducks in a row here. The next plan was going to be let’s pick up ten properties and let them appreciate, and then we’ll sell them all and then we’ll have a big chunk of money to move to Arizona, and then we’ll be able to have more options there and he won’t have to commute, and the minute we proposed that idea in our prayer, we both felt this incredible flood of peace come over us. Peace and love, and we realized, oh okay, well there’s another idea but you know what, we never would have gotten to the point of asking that question if we didn’t first try to do all we could do to accomplish what we wanted to accomplish. So I don’t look at that first goal as being a bad goal. It got us to a place where we started asking better questions and so, no matter where you’re at on the path, whatever you’re trying to do, wherever you’re trying to go, if you’re worried about if it’s the right goal or not, well go for it! Go for it until you find out otherwise.

This is one reason why I think it’s important to have a long-term life vision goal that, if nothing else, just kind of determines the kind of person you want to be on the last day of your life. Who have you wanted to become? That’s bad grammar but who do you want to be on that last day? What kind of a person do you want to be, because really it when all is said and done, who you are is the only thing you have left. You and the relationships you’ve built and everything, all the stuff doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter what kind of a home you lived in. It doesn’t matter what kind of a car you drove. It doesn’t matter what your neighbors thought of you. None of it matters but you, your relationship with God, your relationship with your family and with people. That’s the only thing that matters and so, get that clear.

What kind of a person do you want to be and the reason I think that’s so important is because if you don’t care what kind of a person you become, then these laws, these principles, they will help you get everything you want and you will die a miserable person. It’s not about this stuff. I believe that we are given a desire for a better life, for more comfortable circumstances, for more amazing experiences, for travel, for luxuries. All these things are desires that can do one of two things. They can inspire you to become a better person through the growth process that comes from trying to achieve goals. Or they can make you a horrible person by operating on a competitive plane and just destroying relationships along the way, and so the desire for the thing can be good. It can be for your good. In fact, I am convinced that in my life, that’s what it’s done for me.

Somebody once said everybody should become a millionaire in their life. Everybody should set a goal to become a millionaire and achieve that in their lifetime, and I can’t remember who said it, but his point was he says not so that they can have a million dollars but because of the personal growth that comes through that process. We think we’re going for the money but what really happens, is God has a way of using that desire for our good to take us through experiences that refine us, that prepare us for the leadership, for the responsibility. Honestly, if everybody was handed a $3 million lottery ticket today, would that be the best thing for everybody involved? There comes a certain level of respect for the money, and responsibility and growth when it’s gradual and when it’s hard, when it’s hard to come by.

So okay, that was a really big, long tangent! This next question, this person says I’m stuck because the simple things seem so hard for me to do and yet, the bigger goals and visualization techniques come easier and I’m already seeing results with things on a bigger scale. I’ve not achieved any of those goals yet but I can see that in several areas, there is definite progress. I’m reluctant to move on without mastering the small and simple things but just don’t seem to be able to focus on the insignificant. I posted something small that had finally happened for me but has since disconnected, so I feel like I haven’t mastered that at all and understand that mastery of the small is essential to mastery of the great. This is confusing because the bigger goals seem to be rolling along. Well, I think that’s tremendous, it’s all relative though. Big things can qualify as “small” and let me explain what I mean by that.

When I ask you to set the small goal at the midterm, the inconsequential goal we’re looking for a goal that creates no inner conflict. So if a person believes in their heart that they are worthy and deserving and capable, and ready to go out and double their income and that’s their goal and they know that that’s what they can do, then they’re going to go and do it, and that would for them qualify as a small goal because it had no inner conflict. Now, most of us aren’t going to face a goal like that without some inner conflict, and something else I want you to think of is that our purpose is not to get good at the little inconsequential magic tricks. I would say stay away from that kind of a purpose.

The whole idea of helping you find your lost car keys, or the whole idea of, one of my favorite examples was one of our earlier students, one of the first to come through the program. He ended up becoming an official mentor. His goal was he wanted to see a duck approach him at the pond or at the river, and he went to the river and he sat down, and as soon as he got there, all the ducks scattered and he sat down. He thought, I wonder how this is going to work, but he held the image in his mind. He pictured the duck coming close to him and he thought, I don’t know how this is going to happen but eventually, a woman and her daughter came by and this whole long stretch of river was as long as you could see and of all the places at the river, they came and stood right behind this gentleman and he thought well, that’s kind of strange because he’s a big guy and he could be kind of a scary guy if you didn’t know him, not knowing if he was safe or whatever and they came and stood right behind him, and started feeding the ducks and as they were throwing the bread out, the ducks came and approached him, and he thought well, I wonder if that counts?

Of course, it counts because what he pictured was realized but the point is, once you’ve experienced something like that where you’ve seen the goal work, where you’ve seen a connection between your thoughts and what’s happened… done! Move on. Now it’s time to really sink your teeth into the ones that create some inner conflict and honestly, mastery of those small things, I don’t have mastery of that. I don’t spend my time practicing the inconsequential goals. If I’ve lost my car keys, sometimes it takes two, three days, a week until I finally say “okay, okay I’ll use it, I’ll try it! I’ll do the little thing again” and I’ll picture myself with it and you know, you can repeat it. It can be done but there are bigger fish to fry. There’s more important things to accomplish and if you’ve seen it work in bigger goals, write one of the bigger goals down in that inconsequential field. Go ahead and write that down and move on.

Again, one of the main messages of this call is move on. Keep moving, keep your feet moving. Do something. One more page. If you haven’t done a lesson in a long, long time, don’t do a whole lesson. Just read a page. Just one page. One page at a time, and you’re going to find out that a lot of the questions you have, a lot of the things that you’re feeling stuck about are going to be answered on that next page. I cannot tell you how many times that has happened and I have a feeling that there’s some cosmic thing with that, that you’re going to get stuck right before your breakthrough. You’re going to be stuck right before the big AHA that takes you to the next level of understanding, and maybe you get stuck and you get stuck long enough that when it comes, you really notice it and appreciate it. Maybe if you weren’t stuck and you read right through it, you would have missed it and so look at all of it as part of the whole picture. It’s part of the process, it’s all good, it’s all for your good and it’s all to get you to where you’re trying to go.

The next question: my ideal life encompasses many goals. However, most of them would be achieved by just achieving the money part of the goal. Do I create a single goal of achieving the money and focus on that alone, or do I write it out and visualize the whole enchilada at once? Again, just keep going, do something. Get yourself to the part of the program where you’re doing your goal review. If you’ve got the physical course, get that goal review turned in because I know some of you aren’t turning it in because you think, oh this is my one and only shot to get Leslie’s help and this is it, and oh my goodness, isn’t it scary and I don’t know what I’m going to say! It’s probably going to be wrong and then I’ll blow it and I’ve wasted my money! Stop it! Just get it done. Just get it done and if it’s not perfect, don’t worry. This is what it’s for, we work it through. If you’re in the online program, get yourself to the part where it helps you break it down into the whole enchilada and the short-term goals.

I will say this because it’s coming to mind, is that I have over the years, kind of steered away from setting money goals and let me tell you why. Not that they can’t be achieved, we’ve achieved nearly every one of our money goals that we’ve set but the money, the dollar figure on it is always relative. So what I thought five years ago would be the number I needed to be free of financial worry, five years later, we’ve achieved that number but other things have happened that our nut is bigger to crack, and so you’re going to get yourself in a loop of frustration if you’re focused on the dollar figure. Now if you need $250 to pay a bill on Friday, go ahead but focus on “oh, we’ve paid the bill on Friday” and don’t focus so much on the $250.

Garrett Gunderson told me that back in the Depression or in the, I don’t know when it was during, I think it was during one of the wars, that they were in Russia people were taking barrows of money, you know wheelbarrows full of money and hauling them into town, and people would dump the money out and steal the wheelbarrow. There comes a point where the money itself has to be recognized as just a representation of what it is you really want. So if you need a certain amount of money, you need to know well, what is that money for and let’s focus on that. Then the money will come and it will be there for that thing, or something else will happen so that thing can be accomplished with or without the money. It’s not about the money and again, if you’re in the online program, get yourself to the part where it helps you create the goal statement and if you create the goal statement and you’re not sure if it’s right, you’re not sure if it’s right, don’t worry about it! Just use it. Use it, use it, use it, use it, use it until you find out that something about it’s wrong.

How do you think I figured these things out to create the course? I created the course because I did exactly what I’m asking you to do. I would set a goal and I would work on it for a few weeks, or a few months and I’d find out oh, there’s something wrong with that. Let me give you an example. I used to say “money comes to me frequently and easily from multiple sources and increasing quantities on a continual basis. God helps His children through me. People want my products.” Okay well, after about a year of that I thought, wait a minute, there’s a problem. Let’s try it this way, “money comes to me frequently and easily in increasing quantities from multiple sources on a continual basis. God helps His children through me. People buy my products.” How’s that? That’s one little tweak in verbiage that makes a big difference and it took me a year to recognize that.

Well, you’re going to figure it out if something’s wrong. You’re going to figure it out and you’re going to figure it out before it’s too late. Don’t worry about oh, but I need to hurry up and learn this in time, or I need to apply this in time! You can trust that God knows what he’s doing with you. You can trust that these lessons that we’re learning will be learned in time. You will learn them in time to apply them when necessary. There may be an experience coming where you’re going to have to lean on and draw from the lessons you’re learning right now. Don’t worry, you’re going to have it learned in time. The thing that I would worry about for you and that you should worry about for yourself is if you get stuck and you stay stuck. Yes, you might get stuck for a few weeks. You might get stuck for a few months. You might put this program down for a year and say I can’t even stomach the thought of looking at that thing one more time because it’s nauseating to me, and then when you get through that, you’ll pick it up later and you’ll pick it up again, but just know that you’re not going to get anywhere if you get stuck without a hope of coming through on the other side.

The point I’m trying to make is that there are ebbs and flows. The Law of Rhythm, remember that one’s in there. The Law of Rhythm in Phase Two, that’s where you know that when you’re having a down day or when you’re having a bad month, or when you’re having a bad year, you’re going to have an upswing too and so if you get stuck, okay, be stuck but don’t get stuck forever. As soon as you find the strength to read one more page, pray for the strength. If you can’t bring yourself to read one more page, then say “Dear Heavenly Father, please give me the strength to just put my eyeballs across the page one more time” because sometimes you’re going to feel that way. You’re going to feel like I cannot go one more step and sometimes my prayers are like “please bless me to want to want to!”

You have got to start somewhere and again, you’ll come out on the other side soon enough, and the reason I know that, and the reason I can guarantee that is because these principles are universal. They’re God-given, they are God-inspired and they’re needed by so many people. So many people in this world need to know what you are learning. They need to know what you know, and I am convinced that you are being prepared to be able to share it and teach it, and demonstrate it to the right person at the right time, and you’re being prepared for that moment and it’s probably already happening. You’ve probably been already talking to people who need to know what you know, and just trust that not only when the student is ready, the teacher will appear but it goes the other way around too. When the teacher is ready, the student will appear and so just keep yourself learning, keep yourself growing and the hard times that you’re going through right now have a purpose. You can trust that and there is a question coming up. I can’t wait to get to this one, so let’s move on.

I get confused because I hear that we should read our goals every day and then I hear to just write it down and visualize it, and forget it and it will happen in due time. So which is the best way? For me, I affirm it until I feel that emotional confirmation that oh my word, yeah, yeah it’s mine. It’s as good as mine, it’s on its way, and what that confirmation is, is just being able to really see it and feel it like, wow, yeah I get it, I see it! Yeah, I know exactly what that’s going to feel like, and sometimes that is a hard place to come to. Like, if your goal is, oh I don’t know, being in a certain place for traveling. What is it really going to feel like to be on the African safari? I don’t know what it would feel like. Well, what would it feel like and you figure that out. When you can really feel it, then all of the forces that need to prepare the way for you to get there are in motion because you got that feeling, because you generated that feeling and if you’ve never felt that before, don’t worry you will. Just keep going a page at a time. So I affirm it until I get that feeling, and sometimes I’ll get that feeling and then I need to affirm it again later.

Realize that the affirmation is not to communicate to God what you want. It’s not asking for the same thing every day, every day, every day, every day, every day. It’s repeating it for your subconscious mind. God only needs at once. He doesn’t even need it. He knows what you need before you say it but He needs us to ask for it because that’s an agency thing. He doesn’t impose on us the things that we want but He needs it just once, but my subconscious sometimes needs it a thousand times before my vibration shifts to a level that’s in harmony with it. So sometimes I’m already at that level where I’m at the vibration and I know it’s just a matter of time. I can say it once and I don’t mean say it, it’s not like a chant, it’s not like that. It’s just affirm it once or write it down once or decide on that goal once, and then I get on with my life, knowing that things are kind of working out for me. I do what I can to further it and I don’t worry. On the other hand, if I am worried about it and I’m not sure about it, that’s when I use the affirmations because if you tell yourself a lie often enough, you’re going to eventually start believing it and so it sometimes feels like you’re lying to yourself when you state your affirmation of how things are, in terms of how you want them to be. So you just say it until you believe it and when you believe it, you don’t need to say it anymore. So hopefully that answers that question.

The next one is how do you get the consistent white-hot burning desire for long periods of time amid the daily busyness and demands of your life? You don’t. At least I don’t, and what I mean by that is, I think there’s a myth or a misperception that you have to have a white-hot burning desire consistently for a long period of time until it shows up. Well, I don’t think that’s realistic. I don’t think our physical bodies have the capacity to deal with that kind of energy for that much time, but let me just give you an example. If you’re going to set a goal that might take, I don’t know six months to accomplish, whatever that might be, you might end up with that white-hot desire, that burning desire, I don’t know maybe two or three times intensely for just a few moments in that whole six month period. So it doesn’t have to be a consistent, constant ahhh, you know it’s not like that. It can just be once and it doesn’t even have to last an hour, it’s not like that. I think it’s referred to as powerful, and big and huge, because it’s intense. It’s just a desire that oh, you can’t live without it, it’s got to happen, and you guys are going to see in the Portal To Genius book, you’re going see what that looks like in the characters’ lives. I think you may be thinking it needs to be bigger than it really needs to be.

So just relax again one page at a time, and if you can spend some time imagining what the accomplishment of your goal is going to feel like, you can develop that white-hot burning desire in just one session of meditation or prayer but it requires focus. It requires concentration, it’s hard to do it when there’s interruptions, and for me it’s through prayer. It’s asking God to help me feel it, how it’s going to feel. It’s asking is this a good goal for me to shoot for? Is this something that you would want for me? Is this going to be good for me, and usually if you can ask a question that is a yes or no, and you’re asking a question that has a yes answer, you’re going to feel some of that intensity, and that love and that confirmation.

How do you let go and let God while still asking? It seems that the “what” is up to you, but the “how” is up to God. I think that’s true. One way to look at this is that the goal is in stone, but the plan is in sand. For example, you know I always had in mind how I wanted my kids to be. Not like I’m forcing them to be a certain way but the kind of family dynamics that I wanted to have, and we’re still working on that. That’s probably going to be one of those things that are long-term. It’s kind of hard to make sure everybody is happy and peaceful when there’s seven of them. A little bit too much to expect but in general, how do we feel about each other? What are our family time experiences like? Is there respect? Are the kids responsible? Are they learning to think for themselves? Are they learning to be productive? Are they learning to accomplish things, and overcome their challenges and achieve goals?

Well, I thought that in order for that to happen, I would have to be June Cleaver wearing high heels with my apron on, and cooking meals and creating masterpieces, and four-course dinners and stuff. I thought that to create the kind of family life and children, that their characters and everything that I wanted to develop, I thought that’s what that would require. Well, I found out that as harried as life can get and doing the things that we feel like we need to do on a moment-to-moment basis, our family doesn’t look like that very often. Life is crazy and like Price Pritchett said in his book You2, on the way to accomplishing a goal, things get messy in the middle. He says in the middle of a life-saving surgery, it would appear as though there’d been a murder in the room and I rely on that so often! I think man, okay we’re having another surgery it looks like because things are really messy but we’re chasing a rabbit! You know, as a family we’re shooting for goals, and things are crazy and things are messy, and I’m not living that life like June Cleaver from “Leave It To Beaver” – that show if anybody remembers what that is, but the ultimate reason for wanting that is being accomplished anyway.

So again, the goal is in stone but the plan is in sand. You don’t decide “how” it’s going to happen. You go with your best idea. You do your best with what you think is right but as long as you keep moving, if you get taken off on a detour the goal can still be accomplished, and probably will be still accomplished if you hold on to it and don’t reject it with your disbelief. You don’t say “oh well, because I’m not June Cleaver, I guess my family can’t be the way I want it to be. I guess my children aren’t going to turn out okay.” It’s in that moment that you decide, okay is this goal going to work or is it not, and you’ve got to reject appearances that would appear otherwise.

This next one, this person says I really have a hard time visualizing goals. Now I don’t remember who wrote that one but if you have a hard time visualizing them, then affirm them. Just write the statement and repeat the statement. Talk out loud to yourself several times a day. Scream it when you’re driving down the street if you have to. Sometimes you can’t visualize the goal because you’re not supposed to be able to see it. Sometimes I am convinced that God “on purpose” hides the detail of certain things from us so that we can see what we will do with as much as we can see. What will we do with this vague vision that we can see? Well okay, I’ve got a vague vision and I can go in that direction and as I get closer, and as I go one step at a time closer, it gains clarity. It’s like looking at something on the horizon. Okay, I see there’s something out there, I’m going to go in that direction but I don’t know what it is. It’s the same way. If you don’t have perfect detail around your ideal life, that’s okay. Just get as much as you can see in writing, that’s it. Just get as much as you can see in writing, and it’s good enough, that’s it. Add detail to it as you get more clear on it.

Next one, getting clarity of mind as to what I really want financially and sticking to it has been a challenge. I keep wanting to create little stepping stones to get where I really want to be. I think my wavelengths are confusing the universe. Oh, that’s to be expected too. You don’t have to be perfect. It’s better to relax about it than to force the decision. Just again, see as much as you can see, get it in writing and let that be your stepping stone. As you get closer, you’ll see it more clearly.

The next group of questions, you know what? I am going to divert again before I go on to that. About that last one wanting to create little stepping stones to get where you really want to be and worrying about confusing messages. I remember watching a movie called “Rudy” about 15 years ago and it’s about a football player who wants to play for Notre Dame, but he’s not really a football player. He’s just a little scrawny guy but that’s his dream, and that’s what he lived for and it’s a true story, Rudy Ruettiger, and by the time he accomplished his goal and I saw this movie, and I was so inspired by it. This was back when we were really, really stuck and I was looking for answers.

We had not discovered these principles yet and I watched that and I thought, you know what? Man, I wish I could be that passionate about something, because I had heard that you have to have a white-hot burning desire for something, and I thought I don’t even know what I could want that badly. I don’t want anything that bad and it bothered me. I thought well, does that mean I can’t acco. In that moment I decided okay, since I don’t know what to shoot for, I’m going to set a goal and I didn’t do this consciously, like I didn’t write it down because I didn’t know about that, but I just thought I want to find a goal that I can be passionate about. How’s that for a goal? What if you were to set a goal to find the right goal? That works, that one works.

If you’re not sure what it is that you can develop that kind of desire that would move you through the mountains and over the hurdles to become who you want to be and live the life you want to live, then set a goal to identify the perfect goal and you’ll know it’s the perfect goal because you will feel that burning desire, and you’re going to know, this is it! This is the one, this is the right thing! We have this internal guidance system. We flounder, we search, we scramble, we fumble, around in the dark and when we stumble onto the right idea, when we stumble onto the right thought, we know it. We just know it and if you’ve never felt that yet, then set an intention to find the next right goal for you.

Or if you have a question on your mind, I want to find the answer to this question. That could be a small inconsequential goal. It doesn’t have to be finding lost car keys and it doesn’t have to be a bird at the pond. It can be: I need the answer to this question. What do I need to do for that particular child in my family who’s struggling with whatever? That one is bite-sized enough because you know the solution to every problem is only an idea way. Well, to come up with an idea to solve a problem in your family, or at work or whatever it might be in your health, in your personal life, get clear enough on what that question is, and set the goal to find the answer and when you find it, check it off, fill it out, put it in the forum, move on.

So the next one, this next group has to do with tenacity and mental toughness and anxiety. The first question says I’m only about eight lessons into the program but I’ve read your books, as well as many other books on the Law of Attraction and yet my life continues to stay stagnant, and I keep having the same setbacks and frustrations. I can intellectually understand things but to have my emotions stay in check during struggles is very difficult. Letting go and trusting that all will be well if I keep focusing on the “why” has been very difficult for me. I don’t even like writing this because I know it reinforces the negative. I know I can get through this but I just need to understand the “how”. How do I control my feelings from going into frustration, doubt and fear? How do I feel good during difficult times?

Well, the first thing I want to say is feel it completely. If you’re feeling negativity and discouragement, and you’re really struggling not to go there sometimes, you just have to go there and it’s not going to kill your dream and the reason why I know this is because I go there often, and it doesn’t kill my dreams. I might think it has but in that moment I choose to believe that it didn’t. That’s the key and the reason I can believe that is because I have tried to grow a garden before. I have planted seeds and I have missed watering them for a few days before and they still grew. I had forgotten about them and they still grew. I have let them dry up and I have replanted them. So you know, you’re never stuck for good.

You don’t have to throw away the idea that oh, now the goal can’t be reached because I was negative. In fact, that is the moment where most people fail only because they say oh, I guess it won’t work. That’s it. It’s not because they were negative in the first place. It’s because they thought the goal was destroyed because of their negativity. Do you see the difference? So go ahead and feel it completely. The sooner you get it out of your system, the sooner you can bounce back. Now I’ve experienced depression before, where you go into this negative place and it’s a downward spiral and you can’t get out of it, and it’s hard to switch that off but I want you to just remove the fear of being negative, because the fear itself is a vibration that you want to avoid. So don’t be afraid of having a bad day. Don’t be afraid of getting discouraged in terms of how it will affect the goal.

The Law of Rhythm guarantees that we will have those bad days. It’s part of the plan, it’s part of the whole growth process. If the seed sprouts and the plant grows, it needs sunlight, true? True. Okay, but it doesn’t need it 24 hours a day. So your goal like a seedling, a sapling maybe, as it grows it’s going to go through darkness. It’s going to go through some cold times, it’s going to go through some drought but it’s resilient enough to keep growing anyway. Now what you’re doing when you have a negative day or a bad spell, and you’re just feeling bitter and upset, okay so it’s night time for the seedling or the sapling. It’s night time. You know you’ll come back, the sunshine will come back but here’s what kills the seed. When the night time comes and you go outside to your garden, and you say “oh, it’s night time! I guess we better yank out the seed. We better yank out the plant.” Now that’s what’s ridiculous and yet that’s what we do when we get negative, and then we worry and doubt about our goals.

So just be kind to yourself. Be forgiving of yourself because God is forgiving, and it’s up to us to keep the goal alive and to keep the hope alive and when we’re not feeling hopeful, just know that the hope will come back. I do encourage you to keep the journal in the program. When you’re feeling negative, go ahead and write it all out. Get it out of your head, write it out. Get it out of your head and then end with the rules and on a positive. Just say “you know what, this is how I feel and this is how it is, and this is how horrible life is and I hate it, and it stinks but I know that I’ll see things differently soon.” That may be all it is, okay? So just get it out of your head so that you’re not stewing on it. Sometimes the more you suppress it, the more it builds and the more explosive it becomes when it finally comes out. So just let yourself experience it completely, it’s okay.

The next one, oh this one was fun! I am currently working on Lesson 13. I reported my first midterm experience of passing through a traffic jam on the highway at normal speed. Instead of being blocked by it, the traffic jam had been announced five miles before its location and during these five miles, I used visualization and faith the best I could to avoid it, and I love this person says the best I could because I think so many people get stuck saying, oh, it’s not perfect faith therefore it won’t work! No, it doesn’t have to be, just the best you can. Arriving at the location of the traffic jam, the highway split in two. One part going south in my direction and the other part going west. The traffic jam was limited to the westbound side of the highway. What if I had not made my visualization and instead moaning in advance on the traffic jam, would the traffic jam have been exactly at the same place? Or would it have blocked me,  and then he goes on, but I just want to address this first question.

You know, I don’t think there’s any way I’d ever know but my guess would be that if that was going to block you or if you had been negative about it, all upset about being late in a traffic jam and everything, it could have been. You know how there’s those people on the freeway that just kind of don’t pay attention to how slow they’re going, it might not have been the traffic jam. You might have been blocked up in other ways, or that traffic jam might have backed up far enough to stop you before the branch. Who knows, who knows? The most important thing is again, that you look forward and use what you’ve learned to accomplish the next goal.

You know what? Here’s what I want you to do. You can choose to believe what you want about that experience. If that were me, I would choose to believe that if I had been negative, I probably would have been stuck. Maybe my car would have been stuck. Maybe my car would have broken down. Whatever it is, whatever story I want to create around the data because the data is what it is, and this is where a lot of us get stuck is where we take in the data and we create so much story around it, that we get bogged down in illusions and what-ifs and falsehoods, and when we could be more productive doing other things but as long as you’re going to create any story around it, create a story around it that leaves you feeling empowered. Okay so alright, I acknowledge I don’t know exactly what would have happened. You know, if this were me, but I’m going to choose to believe that if I had been negative I would have been stuck. I’m so grateful that I chose to be positive because look how good it flows now. What else can I get positive about? So that’s my answer on that one.

The next part of this was during the experience about this traffic jam, there was a sort of, and I love this, listen to how he says this. “There was a sort of struggle between a part of me which was judging and wanting me to stop and be realistic, and another part of me which helped me to keep my faith. The feeling I got from the certainty of success was strong, quiet and joyful.” That is so descriptive of exactly what I’m talking about – strong, quiet and joyful. It was incredible and so good but then his question is what gave me this certainty of success and allowed me to keep my faith in this specific situation? I find this question critical because I could not get this feeling again so far in my last experiences, so it’s like one of the ingredients was missing. Well okay, let me see if I can find this particular blog post. While I tell you about this, I’m going to also direct you to one of the old, old blog posts. Just hang on, I didn’t think I was going to bring this up, otherwise I would have been prepared.

Well, I think one of the reasons that that one worked is because, I’m speaking to whoever wrote this, you had an intention to set a goal for the purpose of the inconsequential piece in the FTMF course. You were looking to set a goal and see it through and accomplish it, so that you could write about it. Well, not only did the traffic jam happen but you recognized that as an opportunity to apply the principle and see if this could be where you could make that work. It could be that life delivered that traffic jam for the purpose of this, and in that case, this one worked for you because it was right. It was the right experience for you. It delivered the right experience and the right lesson that you’ll be able to take with you to apply to the next thing. Now, why it doesn’t work the next time around? It might not have been the right kind of experience for you and this is when we need to step back, and I know that there’s a lot of controversy around The Secret and the Law of Attraction. A lot of people feel like it’s too materialistic or feel like it leaves God out of the picture.

One thing that I’d like to point out is that I had a friend who in years past, has been involved with practices and things that I don’t subscribe to. She was not a believer in God. She was, I don’t want to get into too many details, basically she said I was able to make the Law of Attraction work for me anytime I wanted. I could go in and make all kinds of money come to me, and it was easy and it was on and on, and on and she says, but when I decided to follow God and turn my life over to Him and allow Him to let me grow the way He wanted me to grow, the Law of Attraction still worked but it wasn’t as fast. It was hard and I realized, and these are her words, she says I realized that doing it God’s Way still works but He makes you grow for it. He makes you earn it with becoming a better person through it, and choosing that path that she’s chosen has brought her the joy, and the happiness and the fulfillment that can accompany this whole process.

Prior to that, it was an empty kind of a life and not fulfilling and not happy and yeah, she had everything she wanted but it was an illusion, and I think there is that sight that we have a choice if we’re going to do this in a way that’s in alignment with all of God’s principles, or just the ones that get us the material things. I think it’s important to live all the laws that we learn as we learn them, and the more we learn and apply the ones we know, the more we will discover. I haven’t discovered all of the laws yet. I’m still discovering them, I’m still learning them and I can’t believe how many keep showing up regularly. That’s why I ended up writing Portal To Genius because the things I’ve learnt since writing Jackrabbit Factor have blown my mind. It’s taken things to a whole new level, and that’s why it’s important to do things the way that allow for that personal growth.

Anyway moving on, the next one says I can get all excited about a goal for a couple of days but then soon, I’m back in the grind and all the old doubts assert themselves with vigor. What is your best suggestion for staying in the groove? Is it just mental discipline? How many doubts are too many? If I have a little bit of doubt, have I sabotaged all my efforts and must start over? Again, no a seed can survive even if it lacks some nourishment for a little while unless you think it won’t. That’s the kicker, it is how you think it’s being affected, and then what if because of my doubts, I start to think it really was silly for me to ever set such an unrealistic goal? Those kinds of thoughts that come, if you’ve set a goal and you start thinking, oh well, maybe that was silly. I shouldn’t have even said that? That’s the kind of thought that you need to kick out like the plague, and if you’re unable to kick it out, you know sometimes it gets in your head and you don’t kick it out fast enough. If you kick it out fast enough, it won’t become an emotional thing for you. If you let it sit there long enough, eventually it will start to mess with your emotions, and when it’s already messing with your emotions, then yeah, the goal is going to start pulling away from you, and you’re going to start delaying its process but it doesn’t have to be delayed and repelling from you permanently. That’s the thing I want you to understand here. It’s going to come closer, it’s going to go away from you. It’s going to come, it’s going to go, it’s going to come, it’s going to go, it’s going to come, it’s going to go and what you’re doing is you’re practicing. You’re just practicing the mental toughness that’s required for the goal to come all the way to completion.

Now I hope you haven’t listened to everything I’ve said so far, and say “oh yeah, I can still have a goal even if I have bad days, and I’m just going to have bad days” with no effort to improve, alright? Yes, you have to get that mental tenacity. You have to get that commitment to the goal, and be firm in believing it’s on its way and believing that it’s yours, and believing that it’s going to be accomplished because it’s that belief that opens the doors and creates the connections, and leads you to the right people and that’s how things keep moving forward and when you have that bad day, yes it’s going to pull back but in that moment, don’t kick it out forever. Say “oh, had a bad day. Oops, moving forward. Learned a lesson, taking this lesson with me, I’m better off for it” and view all of these setbacks as for your good, and preparing you to be better able and better prepared to receive the thing you want.

Next one… I feel that this year, I am in transition moving towards accomplishing some of my goals and living constantly in a state of anxiety or living in the terror barrier. I have to keep reassuring myself that this is part of getting myself to where I want to be, and you’re right. I’m still working at keeping the anxiety and panic level down when it comes to finances and choosing to believe that it will work out, and that I will be given the opportunities to create the financial and personal future I desire. How long does the terror barrier last? Is it truly something that can last for an extended period of time as it seems to be right now? Yeah, it can feel like that. That first time that we used the whole Stickman Concept to triple our income and move to a different home, when we talk about the terror barrier we’re really talking about that feeling that you get when you’re making a commitment to something.

Like in our case, part of my husband tripling his income required that he leave his job that had benefits for a contract position with no benefits, that was guaranteed only three months. Now you can imagine that that would create some terror and it did, but in our heart of hearts, both of us knew that it was the absolute right thing for him to do. We had that assurance, we just knew it was right. We knew it was right because we had set a goal, and this opportunity showed up and it resonated with us, but that’s what you’re feeling when you feel like “oh, that is right! I know this is the right thing to do.” You’re not going to get that feeling “I know that’s the right thing to do” if you’re not headed anywhere. If you don’t have an objective and if you don’t have an objective, then how are you going to know if something’s the right thing to do? If you don’t have an objective, your objective can be to find an objective. There’s always an objective. So we had that fear when he went to submit his letter of resignation. Now there was anxiety, there was discomfort all day long, throughout the weeks and things before this transition was in place, but the terror barrier is kind of like an event. It’s when you hand in the resignation and after you hand it in, there’s a feeling of “ahhh, I did it!”

So there’s two different things. There’s the terror barrier which is that moment of I’m going to take the action that I know I need to do that makes me want to vomit, and then there’s that general anxiety feeling that comes when all of the appearances around you point to disaster and you’re trying to stay calm, in spite of it. So it’s not a terror barrier when you’re just kind of in the middle of the scary circumstances. That is just plain old anxiety. That’s just plain old fear, and that can be addressed and helped by opening your program and just reading one more page. I guarantee that if you’re feeling that way, and even if it’s not my materials, pick something up that’s at a higher vibration than where you’re at, and take it in and that will help your vibration.

It’s all about resonance and vibration. Remember you’re trying to keep a vibration that’s in harmony with the thing you want. The thing you want is at a higher vibration than where you’re at or you’d already have it, and so we resonate with the opportunities and the ideas, and the people that are going to help us get there by raising our vibration. We are the radio that needs to tune in to the frequency where the broadcast is that has all those solutions, and if we’re down in the dumps, if we’re in the mire, if we’re worried, if we’re full of anxiety, then sometimes we might not have the strength to go turn on the tape, or to go read a book or whatever, but we can put on music that soothes our souls. We can do something, we can choose something to help our environment. We might be in a bad vibration but we can put our environment in a higher vibration, and it will lift us and it’s just one, one, one scraping step at a time, and as for does it last for extended periods of time? Just think of having you know accomplishing a goal like giving birth, it’s no different.

You have a goal, the goal is the baby and there is the gestation period. You don’t want the baby too soon. You don’t want to force it to come before it’s ready and when it’s time to come, the labor pains start and it gets intense, and it gets more painful than it’s ever been all those months prior and you start wondering “am I going to die?” and you start wondering “is this ever going to happen?” and the contraction comes and then it goes; it’s temporary. So a lot of people right now in this economy, they’ve set goals. A lot of people have made big plans and they’re feeling some labor pains, and it’s easy to think of them like “oh this is pointless! This conflict I’m having with my spouse, this disaster I’m having with my creditors!” Whatever it is, is a distraction from focusing on the goal. I tell you, for me I was never very good at focusing on the baby that I was trying to give birth to. The pain was too great, I couldn’t even think “ooohh but, this is for a baby… imagine the baby!” No, it was too intense. I couldn’t even think of the baby. It was too intense and the baby still came. So yeah, this might be intense, right now.

Hopefully, you’ve got a goal. Hopefully, there is a point to the labor. Hopefully, there is something on the other side of this that you’re working for. If you haven’t written something down, and it’s okay if it’s not structured properly, and it’s okay if it’s vague for now because in time, you’ll know how to fix it and make it better. Just do something, anything, but the pain that you’re feeling today, it’s never constantly bad forever, and if you’ll just admit that, acknowledge that you do have good moments. Everybody does, even when things are horrible, horrible, horrible, you have those moments where you can smile and if you don’t naturally have them, you can create them. Put on a movie that makes you smile, read a book that makes you smile, do something with your kids that makes you smile, but remember each of those pains is not for nothing, and just like in childbirth, there’s progress being made with each pain. It doesn’t look like it, it doesn’t feel like it, it all feels the same but each one is moving the baby closer to delivery.

DR DAPHNE: So Leslie, what are you working on at this time? What should we be patiently waiting for?

LESLIE: Well, I know some of our listeners have read The Jackrabbit Factor. I promise it’s an experience that will change your life but right now, I’m working on the sequel to that book and it’s interesting the way things work because I sat down to write the sequel, and I realized that in order to accomplish that I needed to give a little more foundation to the beginning of the story and it turned into a prequel first. So it actually wraps around ten years prior to that very first argument in the story.

Just for those who have not read it, it’s about a couple who are at the end of their financial rope and they get in an argument at the beginning over money and that’s the beginning. Well, in the sequel you know, at the end of the story there’s something that I’m not going to disclose but for the sequel, I answer a piece of what happens at the end but in order to do that, I had to back up ten years prior to that first argument. So actually, this next book is going to sandwich The Jackrabbit Factor right in the middle. It’ll be ten years prior and another 12 years after.

DR DAPHNE: Whoa!

LESLIE: There is a lot that is going to come out in that on how to apply these principles in real life situations. It’s going to be out of the parable dream scenario that the first book is and into real life, and you’ll get to see how these work in real life.

DR DAPHNE: Well, I can’t wait and when can we expect that out?

LESLIE: Last January was my first goal.

DR DAPHNE: Ha ha! That’s all right.

LESLIE: Yeah, you set a goal in stone but the plan is in sand. So you know, I missed my first objective. This is what’s interesting is I was writing the story and I got halfway done by January which was my first objective and I knew, I knew so clearly that the reason I couldn’t finish it was because I had not yet experienced the life situations that needed to be integrated into the story. I had not experienced them as a person and so I put the book down and I just got back to life, and waited for what those lessons were going to be and they came. They came and it culminated at the beginning of July and it became clear to me why I couldn’t write until I had experienced that, and so now next week, I’m going back up to the mountains to work on the book for a week and we’ll see how far I get.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right, that’s right. You know, I’m so thankful for you to share that with us and to let us know it is okay, even when you think you’re in the middle of a project and your flesh and your human part has a deadline. It is good when we are obedient in knowing that it’s not about us, and it’s okay to put your pen and paper down and say “okay Father, I’ll go about Your business and you will redirect me when it’s time to pick that pen up again.”

LESLIE: Yeah.

DR DAPHNE: Because a lot of people would be focused, you know, I have to have the book out! I have to have the book out but it’s not about having it out. It’s having all the information out that is needed to add value to our lives, and we need to be very flexible and obedient to universal laws.

LESLIE: You know, and every idea from conception to reality has a gestation period that is finite and if we knew what the gestation period was for each idea in each person’s life, then we could set the date and say “yeah, I know that’ll happen on that date” but since we don’t know what those gestation periods are and in reality, a seed in nature the gestation period can vary depending on the climate and depending on the environment, and we are like that. Our idea, that idea you have in mind is only a six-month idea.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: But you create the climate for that idea. You can speed up the process with your faith, and sometimes it’s planted in the wrong season and you have to wait for another cycle before the earth is ready.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: So we don’t know but what we do know is that just like when you’re expecting a child, you might have a general idea because of thousands of years of people saying “you know, this took about 40 weeks.” We have a pattern and we know that yeah, generally it takes about 40 weeks. It can take less, it can take longer but look at this. If you get to your “due date” if you do not have the baby on that day, does that mean you’re not pregnant?

DR DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: No! It just means that the time wasn’t right and thank heavens it didn’t come, and so what I’ve decided is that when I don’t reach my goal on the date that I set, which was nothing more than my best guess on the gestation, that’s all it was then I say “wow!” You know, the next day I am even more expectant and the day after that, I’m more expectant. I don’t look at it as like “oh, I guess this won’t happen!” That would be the most ridiculous thing to say at week 40. “Oh, I guess I’m not going to have a baby!” Hello?! You know, it’s the longer you have to wait, the more expectant you should become.

DR DAPHNE: Exactly, the greater the expectation because you know, I always ask people who really knew when they got pregnant? It’s just a good guess, you know. Somebody keeping tab really, that’s amazing. I have to tell you my prayers is out to the universe because I know God has it in the plan for me to be in the mountains.

LESLIE: Ha ha!

DR DAPHNE: He’s going to let me know when it’s right. He’s just going to get all my substance and all my resources intact for that to happen so.

LESLIE: I look forward to that and for the listeners who don’t know what you’re talking about, why don’t you tell them what you mean. Well, for those listeners who don’t know what you’re talking about.

DR DAPHNE: Okay, you want me to tell them?

LESLIE: Yeah, tell them what you’re planning.

DR DAPHNE: Leslie does retreat where he, aah she… oh boy, I can’t believe I just changed your gender!

LESLIE: Ha ha, that’s okay.

DR DAPHNE: She invites people to join her in a very positive isolation week when she help you to extract that book out of you and it’s just a healthy weekend where you spend. It is spiritually empowered, nutritionally empowered, and it’s you and Leslie and God and the Spirit up there working your stuff. So when you come out of that, you are really empowered. You’re extra developed and I know, I haven’t been there yet but from the lineup of people who was on the last list, I know this is a weekend that is worth it and I can’t wait to hear about the book that came out of that weekend with the last people that were there with you.

LESLIE: It was amazing, it was amazing and I look forward to next week. I’m going back and you know, it’s interesting because I think one of the reasons that The Jackrabbit Factor sequel is not complete is because I have women to meet on these retreats. I mean, I’m going to the mountains to work on my book but I don’t like to go alone. That’s why I invite one person to come with me that we can both be working on books at the same time, and bouncing ideas off each other and being in a mastermind situation to get the kinds of ideas that God would want us to portray in these books.

DR DAPHNE: Yes, yes. I just want to thank you for devoting your time and for believing in other women and other people, that they can reach the greater heights in all the things that they are doing. That speaks volumes about who you are and your belief in other human beings, so I’m just so thankful for that and for being part of your network. I can’t wait for my week to be up in the mountains.

LESLIE: I look forward to that, that will be fun.

DR DAPHNE: I know it will be. Okay Leslie, if you would give a checklist of stepping out of your comfort zone because I know there are people on this call, they are successful in what they are doing but it’s like they kind of hit the plateau and they stop growing and if you would give a list Leslie, a checklist if you may, that they can use to kind of ruffle their feathers a little bit in some more growth. What would that checklist look like?

LESLIE: First of all, I am convinced that we have challenges and trials in this life for the sole purpose of creating desire in our hearts for something better. If things were perfect and we never had challenges, we would have no incentive to grow and so the first thing on the checklist would be:

1) Look at the things that are dissatisfying in your life and make a list of those things
that you would like changed.

Maybe you would like to be healthier. Maybe you would like to be smarter. Maybe you would like to have a wider network of supportive friends. Maybe you would like your relationship in your marriage to be stronger. Whatever it is, if there is some level of discontent, then write that down because that is your first gift is to look at that discontent as the gift that is making you aware of something that could be
better, and then the second thing would be to:

2) Create in your mind a vision or a picture on the screen of your mind of what it would look like if that was the way you wanted it to be.

Now, here’s something that I want to stop and make sure that you understand. I’m not talking about okay yeah, stronger relationship. Okay, I want a stronger relationship in my marriage, got it, okay… what’s the next step? No, stop there. Stronger relationship in your marriage. What does that look like? If it were that way today, what would be different? and you need to play the video on the screen of your mind and that is one of the laws that I’m talking about. God has given us a creative mind that has the ability of placing a picture on the screen of your mind of your choosing, and you have to choose a picture of the way you want it to be. You have to take the time to put it there.

That is like going to Amazon.com and saying I want a book and you have to put in the search window some kind of a keyword that will bring up the right page. Well, putting the image on the screen of your mind is like putting what you want in the search box at Amazon.com. You’ve got to do it. You can’t just go to Amazon.com, sit there in front of your screen and say “I want Catcher In The Rye” and wait for something to happen. Nothing will happen if you just speak it. Nothing will happen if you just talk about it. Nothing will happen if you just complain that it’s not there.

You’ve got to do something and doing something means putting the image on the screen of your mind, and you’ll find out if you’ve never done this on purpose before, that it takes a lot of work. It takes a lot of work to control your thoughts that can be so random and so scattered, and jumping from one topic to another all the time but to stop, to calm your mind long enough to see that image come to view, kind of like a Polaroid that comes out of the camera, and you have to sit and wait for it to come into view and go from black to full color, and you have to do that on the screen of your mind and then you have to answer the question: how is that going to feel? How would it feel if…? and write that down. How would it feel? Underline feel three times. How would it feel if…?

DR DAPHNE: That’s important.

LESLIE: And you can’t answer that question until the image is clear. You’ll find that, you’ll try to answer that question: how would it feel if…? and I’m not saying answer like “oh, it would feel great!” No, you have to generate the feelings. You have to pretend like it’s really there and generate those feelings. Now, these are spiritual principles. You’re activating something spiritual when you do that. You’re sending this request in a spiritual way to God and then when you speak the word of Prayer and you say “Dear Father, this is what I see, this is what I’m asking for. Thank you for all that I have. Is this a good thing for me to request?” and you can ask that question.

Sometimes people are afraid of asking for something because what if God doesn’t want it for me? I don’t want to displease Him.” Go ahead and find out. Put it on the screen of your mind and ask “is this right for me?” and you will feel. If it is right for you, you will feel overcome with joy because those feelings of how it would feel will fill your soul and you will know that it is good. Nobody could convince you that it is wrong after you feel that. Nobody could talk you out of knowing that it is right for you and once you get that confirmation, then go ahead and ask and allow Him to open your mind to what your next step might be.

Now, let me just take a little segue here for a minute and make the point, and I don’t know if this kind of fits in as a checklist item but it’s something that I need to explain, and that is that your subconscious mind is continually running programs that keep you alive, that keep you safe, that keep your heart beating all day long. Thank heavens, you didn’t have to remind yourself to beat your heart.

DR DAPHNE: We would not be on this show right now! Ha ha!

LESLIE: It’s not something that is on your conscious checklist and thank heavens, and you don’t have to remind yourself to breathe at night. Most people, you know and so your subconscious mind also keeps you safe in other ways, according to its understanding of what “safe” means, okay? So whatever has become habitual in your life subconsciously is a “safe” place for you even if it means you’re in an abusive relationship. Subconsciously you feel safer there because you don’t know what elsewhere may look like. It may be worse, and so subconsciously you have a program that says “you need to stay right here because it’s the devil you know” and that’s the same financially as well.

You might be broke, you may be destitute, you may be in poverty, and struggling but subconsciously you’re right at home, and I know people struggle with that. They’re saying “no, I can’t stand this! Something has to change.” Well, consciously you’re screaming “something has to change”, subconsciously you’re saying “I’m perfectly at peace right” because, and here’s how you know. When an opportunity comes along that you know in your heart would be a good thing for you to do to step out but something inside of you says “no, that’s too scary” – that’s your subconscious mind trying to keep you safe and again, “safe” is not always reality, the real safe, it’s just again a habit. So here’s what happens, once you have an image on the screen of your mind of how things can be and you’ve had that feeling in your heart that says “yes, this is good for you. This is good for your soul. It would be a good thing for you to experience that in reality” you have that confirmation, you have changed the state of you.

People feel differently around you when you are a dreamer. They have a different energy that they feel when they’re with you. They feel like you’re going somewhere. They may not be able to put their finger on it but you are an advancing person and they know it, and they want to be around that because it’s a stream that they want to be a part of, but when you have put on the screen of your mind and allowed yourself to feel a picture of how things can be better, how your relationship can be better, what that would feel like for your finances, anything, your health then you are going to be brought, and you can count on this, you will eventually be brought an opportunity that says “here, this is something you can do that will lead you closer to that picture” and it might not be that blatantly obvious “here it is! here’s what’s in response to your picture!” but it will be something that will resonate with you as something that would be good and right for you to do.

Now, the next thing is that you have to take action. When your physical body goes to take action on the new idea, that subconscious program is wrestling with two truths. The first truth is, and I’ll take the example of finances. My truth is “I am always broke”. That may be the habit, okay? You may be saying to yourself constantly “oh, I’m always broke. I never have enough money” and the more you say that, the more that is your subconscious reality and that is more of what is “safe” okay? You’re telling your mind all the time “I am safest when I am broke” when you say “I am always broke”.

So stop saying that and when you decide “no, I am wealthy” and put it in present tense. When you’re thinking of your new reality that you want, you have to think about it as though it is actually true because truthfully, your subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between an experience that is imagined.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: And an experience that is actually true, and since it’s our subconscious mind that controls our results and as long as we’re lying to it all day anyway “I am always broke” you know, life is abundant. If you’re saying “you’re broke” you’re lying to your subconscious mind because it’s not true.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: So let’s give it a new truth that “I am wealthy. I have all I need.” Now if you feel like you’re lying, don’t worry you’re telling the truth, you just have to kind of overcome that. You’re telling the truth and you’re convincing your subconscious mind of your new accepted truth.

Don’t you think that there are things in your subconscious mind you’ve accepted as truth that are not true? Maybe something you were told as a child “oh, you’ll never amount to anything.” Okay, that was a lie but when we’re children, we don’t have a filter on what comes into our subconscious mind. We accept everything as “truth”.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: So we have to believe that if our life is not what we want it to be, that somewhere in our subconscious program is a lie that has played out, and we’re going to reprogram, we’re going to give it a new program to run. Just like on a computer, there are programs in the background that don’t necessarily have to be running. They may never go away but they don’t have to run and you can upload a new program.

So you give it a new program “I am wealthy” and affirmations constantly telling yourself that can help but more powerfully is when you just take the time to visualize it and feel it, and allow yourself to let that settle into the subconscious mind and not reject it as “oh, I’m telling myself this affirmation that is not true but I’m going to say it anyway.” You know, you’ve got to stop those thoughts and just say “no, I accept this is my new truth. I am NOT going to cast this out with my unbelief.”

So with two programs in your subconscious mind – one saying “I am always broke” and one saying “I am wealthy” – on a subconscious level when there are two contrary truths accepted, it manifests in the body as anxiety. So think about it, when an opportunity comes along that you could take action on but it may be uncomfortable because it may require an investment. It may require getting out of your comfort zone. It may require talking to someone that you’re afraid of, you know, for whatever reason. This action that you take is going to create this anxiety because all of a sudden, a new program is dominating and your subconscious mind is saying “whoa, whoa, whoa! That’s not safe! That’s not safe!” but just remember that all it is, is two subconscious programs that have been accepted as truth that contradict each other. It’s a physiological response is this anxiety, that’s all it is. You knew on a spiritual level that it was right when you considered it.

On a physical level, you have a physiological response of anxiety and what I’ve decided is that when I feel anxiety, when I’m about to take action on a new truth, when I’m about to demonstrate my faith by my action, that this physiological response is nothing more than evidence that I am this close to breaking through, and you take action anyway and you find out that that new idea can dominate by your action and in fact, that anxiety is also evidence that you have successfully turned over the new program to your subconscious mind.

So instead of looking at the anxiety, the physiological anxiety as a “negative” which is what most people do. They say “oh, this must be wrong! I’m going to go back to my comfort zone” and then you’re trapped forever in bondage to circumstances. No, you say instead “oh, I know what this is and it’s a positive in my life because I know what it is, and I am aware and I will take action anyway because on the other side of this is my breakthrough” and that is the process that allowed my husband and I to triple our income in three months after seven years of bondage.

DR DAPHNE: Amazing, amazing.

LESLIE: And those opportunities will cross your path daily. You’ll have an opportunity today to take action on this new idea.

DR DAPHNE: Yes, thank you so much Leslie. I pray that people will go back and they will download this, and they will re-listen, re-listen, re-listen because I think the reason a lot of people can’t get out of that bondage, it’s because instead of understanding what’s truth in our subconscious and what’s not and how to convert them, is that we keep adding a lot of what’s not true in the subconscious because we keep going to all these people who don’t understand about themselves and what it takes for them to excel. We keep going to them to ask for their approval to step out from where we are to become who God intended us to be, and they tell us again “oh please, why should you do all of that?” So now you have just given us a process that can help us to overcome that instead of going to seek for other people’s approval. We thank you so much for this information.

LESLIE: Thank you. It’s powerful stuff and it’s so simple and truthfully, don’t you think that God’s answers should be simple?

DR DAPHNE: It’s simple. It goes back to what I mentioned earlier on when you asked me the question about how I help people to understand what to do and how to find out their purpose, and all of that. Every time it never fails, Leslie. People look me in the eye and they said “Daphne, I cannot believe it is this simple.”

LESLIE: I know.

DR DAPHNE: I couldn’t believe it! I knew this my entire life. I was not looking that it was something that is so simple.

LESLIE: Yeah.

DR DAPHNE: You know?

LESLIE: Yeah.

DR DAPHNE: He has all the plan in action and he created us. We just need to follow what it is He wants us to do. It’s all laid out there, step by step, but we’re trying to logically figure everything out in our heads and that’s what trips us up again.

LESLIE: Oh yeah, well, and if you look historically, when has He ever taught His people and worked with His prophets in a fashion that he says “okay, let me show you how this is all going to play out. Now, here’s your step by step.”? No, it’s never that way. He tells them what he expects – the end result. “Okay Gideon, I expect you to defeat the Midianites and by the way, I’ve already delivered them into your hand.” Notice it’s present tense – present tense.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right, that’s right.

LESLIE: “I have already delivered them into your hand before the battle had even begun.”

DR DAPHNE: Exactly.

LESLIE: And Gideon had what 32,000 men that he was going to take to battle and God said “go to your people and I want you to talk to the soldiers, and find out which ones are fearful and send them home because it would be better to fight the battle with a few people who are faithful than to have a multitude with fear” and I think of our thoughts like little thought soldiers.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: When you’re going to accomplish a goal, the first step is to cast away the fear. You have no place in your battle for fear.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right. We are not alone, we are never alone, you know? We just need to step out bold. I just hope you are having as much fun as I am having because I think we are a match made in heaven!

LESLIE: You know, I am having a lot of fun and I love that the more impossible the task, the more glory to God because if you’ve studied Gideon and the Midianites, He then said “okay now, you know what? You have 10,000 men, that’s still too many. Take the men to the water and watch how they drink, and for those who drink this way keep them, and for those who drink that way send them home because if you were to win the battle with this many people, you’d think it was your own strength.”

LESLIE: He ended up with 300 men to fight the Midianites and because God is smart and He has strategies that are beyond our comprehension, He did. He delivered the Midianites into his hand and I look at finances. I keep going back to finances just because that was my background.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: And before I discovered these principles but they do apply to anything and that is that the more impossible the task, the more opportunity the Lord has to show His hand in your life, and you’ve got to just take a deep breath and let go, and let Him carry you through it because He will make you victorious. You will conquer and because of that, you will be able to teach others how to conquer and why would not He want that for you?

DR DAPHNE: That’s right, that’s right. Leslie, I have a question for you. What is your take on tithing?

LESLIE: Oh, it’s absolutely critical. Let me explain it this way, tithing to give 10% of what you are blessed with of your increase. The material wealth that we have is not ours anyway. It’s our stewardship and so God gives us this money and even if it’s only $3, if He gives you $3, if He loans it to you to see how you will be a steward over that, the first thing He asks is “just give me 10% back.” Now when we do that, you know He uses it to build his Kingdom but besides that, He uses it to build you – to teach you faith in Him.

Now, if you pay tithing, that’s not a promise that you will get wealthy but let me tell you what it does do. What it has done for me is it has given me confidence that I am pleasing God and when I have done that, and when I do the things that give me confidence with the Lord, then I become more courageous to ask for His help in other things and that’s what He requires. He requires us to ask Him in faith for the things we need. He knows what we need and He could give it to us without us asking but all He requires is for us to ask.

DR DAPHNE: I’m a strong believer in tithing and it never fails. Every time I have conversation with some believers, the people who are earning a little bit, they are all for it but when I talk to the people that are earning a lot, they’re not supporting it and I am such a strong believer like you Leslie, that it is not always anyhow and when we give tithes back, we really just giving back to God what is His because if He was as selfish as we are as human beings, He would not allow us to have any of that.

LESLIE: Yeah.

DR DAPHNE: So it’s not ours anyhow, so why don’t we just give it up?

LESLIE: And you know, let me say this may be the very first opportunity to face that anxiety, that terror barrier that I talk about that. You may have a belief that I cannot afford to pay tithing. What if I were to put it this way? I can’t afford not to. Now, when you have a bill to pay and you have tithing to pay, and you have to choose one or the other, it is acting in faith to pay tithing. It requires faith to say “you know what, I am going to pay tithing first and I’m putting my trust in the Lord” and then get to work finding the way that the Lord has provided for you to meet your needs. You don’t pay your tithing and sit on the couch and say “okay, God where’s the money?”

DR DAPHNE: Oh yeah, you’ve got to get…

LESLIE: He will prepare a way but you have to find the way.

DR DAPHNE: I thank you, Leslie for affirming that this morning because this series led me to ask that because I know there’s somebody on this show that needed to hear that. I don’t know who you are or where you are but this was something that you needed to hear, that you needed to come to peace with and I thank Leslie for affirming that this morning. That it’s not about us, it’s not ours anyhow, so just step out and do, and give back what is His.

LESLIE: And if you start there, that will build your faith. You will see His hand in your life and it will give you courage to do the next scary thing that He asks you to do.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right, that’s right. Would you take 13 minutes to do your closing thoughts please?

LESLIE: Oh well, closing thoughts? There are no such thing as closing thoughts, Daphne!

DR DAPHNE: Summarizing, just summarize us, that’s it.

LESLIE: Well, first of all, I just want to encourage everyone who’s listening to this to know that there is a way out of whatever it is you’re facing. It exists and it begins, the whole process of coming out of it begins with believing that there is a way because I have seen people, and it pains me to see this but I have seen people say “oh, I’m in this horrible, horrible situation and I guess, I’m just going to have to settle in.”

Now yes, there is a place for that and it came in my life when I had attended seven years of more than 100 seminars and I didn’t see the change that I was looking for, and it was discouraging and when I was discouraged and I’d set my goals and they hadn’t come true, and I thought “you know what? I guess I’m just going to have to learn how to be happy here.”

Now that is a true principle, it is important to be able to do that but what I’m talking about is people who say “life is miserable. I hate my life and I can’t change it” okay? So yes, you have to be happy and grateful where you’re at. You need to learn to live in peace the way things are and I will say this, I think we may have mentioned this before but the movie “Facing The Giants”… Daphne, I know you don’t like movies but have you seen that one?

DR DAPHNE: Yes, I saw that one.

LESLIE: “Facing The Giants” and if you haven’t seen it, go find it. It’s almost anywhere you want to look because it has just spread like wildfire. That one, you will come away from that movie trusting the Lord with your life, and you will come away with it feeling like you can accomplish anything with His help but there is one scene in there, and I’m going to tell you what to look for. When the wife, she wants to have a baby and she has just gone to the doctor and was just told that it was not successful, and she was devastated and she goes out to the car and she says something in prayer, and I want you to go look it up, find it, see what she says and you have to approach your goals with the same attitude that she has. So this is your homework assignment, you didn’t think you’re going to get one but that is a homework assignment.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: To go find that movie, watch that scene and find out how she feels in that moment, so that you can adopt that same feeling in your life when you approach your goals. Find peace now – the way things are. Decide that you will serve the Lord the way things are, even as horrible as they may be, you’re going to do your best. Make that commitment to do your best even as things are and start making plans for change. Expect that you will find the way because it exists.

God has so many more answers for us than we have room to receive them and every challenge that we face is Him carving a place, painfully sometimes carving a place, out of our heart for the answer that He wants to give us. He’s creating space by making a hole in our heart. Have you ever felt empty? Have you ever felt that dark hole that just is hungering for something? He has created that space and He has something to fill it with but He can’t give you the answers if you are saying “there’s no way! I can’t pay tithing. There is no way! I can’t pay my bills. There is no way! I can’t set boundaries in my life for how people treat me.”

Whatever it is that is holding you back from becoming all that you were meant to become, and for experiencing all the joy that God has to offer, expect to find it and do not give up until you find it. If it takes you till your dying breath and if it takes you 40 years, do not give up until you find it because it is there for you and life is so short, anyway. It’s the pursuit worth seeking and you will be glad that you didn’t give up, and you’ll find out that you won’t have to wait 40 years, most likely. You may have to wait two days, you may have to wait ten months. There are some goals that I set that I thought were only two months away and they were actually five years away but they were worth pursuing.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: They were worth pursuing. So that’s the first thing is to believe that there is a way out, and the second is invest in yourself. Invest in you, you are worth it. No matter what anybody’s ever told you, you are worth investing in. Whether that be financially, whether that be just with time, with energy but build you because if you build you, you become more useful in the hands of the Lord, and there is no feeling like feeling like you’re being useful to the Lord, there’s nothing to compare with that. Daphne, you live that.

DR DAPHNE: Thank you, Leslie.

LESLIE: Would you agree that there is no feeling that can compare?

DR DAPHNE: There is absolutely, absolutely no feeling. You know, a lady said to me last week “you’re always on a high” and I said “because I’m so passionate about all of you!” She said “what you mean?” I said “everyday I wake up and I talk to one person, I learn so much more” and she said “where do you get all your energy from?” and I said “you know, I believe in what I do” and I said “honestly, I have to say it’s the God who lives inside of me. It’s not about me but it is the God that lives inside of me and that what gives me that energy so that I can be a joy to be around” because people don’t want to be around grouches, and people who are grumpy and complaining. So I always tell myself I might be the only Bible that some people read. I might be the only smiling face that they see today.

LESLIE: Yeah.

DR DAPHNE: And I want to really make an impact in their lives so that they can have an enjoyable day. You know, I was just thinking that some people, you’d probably hand them a million dollars and it wouldn’t mean anything to them but just giving them a nice, bright smile would put more value in their lives.

LESLIE: And I’ll add too, that there is a formula for financial success, for financial capital and it’s mental capital combined with relationship capital turns into financial capital (MC + RC = FC). So instead of focusing on finding the money, finding the money, finding the money, build your mental capital. Invest in you. Improve your value in what you know and in how you serve, and then relationship capital is building relationships and you do that through service, smiling, through lifting someone up and as you do that, you will be led to the connections that bring you the money you need, and it begins with trusting in that process and you know, you say that sometimes you skip meals because you’re just energized with this spirit that works through you. I didn’t eat this morning either. Sometimes it’s inconvenient to feed the body because you’re just so on fire with what comes through your spirit and there are principles of good health too.

You know, and with the short time we have left, I feel like I need to say this that even after learning these principles, I still suffered from depression for some time but I still felt God telling me in my heart to do and serve, and to teach the principles. Even when I was depressed and even when the money hadn’t manifest, and I remember at one point feeling like I needed to put on a workshop or a seminar and I thought “are you kidding me?? I am the grumpiest, I am the most negative person right now! I can’t imagine teaching people how to think “positive” for prosperity. I can’t imagine doing that!” but the feeling didn’t go away and I thought “okay alright, I will go through the motions of putting this together even though I don’t feel right. Even though I can’t even see anybody wanting to come, I will do it anyway” and this is the thing, that even when you don’t think perfectly, even when you don’t live all the laws perfectly, that’s what Jesus Christ came to make up for are the mistakes we make and our shortcomings. You can trust that God can make up the difference. Whatever your background is, I know like I said, that there may be non-Christians listening to this.

DR DAPHNE: Oh yes.

LESLIE: And that is their prerogative, and everybody gets to believe how they choose and I celebrate that but you can trust that God has provided a way to bridge the gap between our mortal efforts and what perfection is, and I can tell you that that experience, that seminar was my largest audience to that point and that’s when I learned that miracles happen when you are willing, even if you are not perfect and especially if you are not perfect because that is when God’s glory is obvious.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: That’s when it’s obvious. If you think you’re all that and can put it together on your own you know, your results are going to be much better if it looks impossible.

DR DAPHNE: That’s right because the people in that audience, it’s your imperfections was what they needed to come to their healing.

LESLIE: Yeah.

DR DAPHNE: And it’s always amazing Leslie, it never ceases to amaze me how God just work all the little kinks out. He just has the way of just ironing out all our little flaws.

LESLIE: Yeah.

DR DAPHNE: And just puts us up on a pedestal where we would never climb to, no matter how we try.

LESLIE: And it begins with thinking “right”. Like, here you have circumstances and you think “oh, I could never do that because I’m not good enough” or you could say “I’m not good enough but I’m going to do it anyway. I’m going to do my best and trust that God can make something out of it.”

DR DAPHNE: Exactly.

LESLIE: And that’s the difference.

DR DAPHNE: Yeah, we just need to show up, that’s all. Be present and He will do the work in you. Oh, Leslie, just remind them of your website and oh my gosh, I just hope I get to spend more time with you! Oh it’s good! I mean, you and I could be talking for 16 hours.

LESLIE: I know, I know and then we just need to record it and have someone make a book.

DR DAPHNE: Oh yes, we just got to do something. God is so good. I thank God that night when I searched and found The Jackrabbit Factor. I just thank Him. I’ve been following your work for years, your newsletter and everything. I just want to thank you for the investment in my listeners and myself, Leslie. You are very generous with your time.

LESLIE: Oh, it brings me joy.

DR DAPHNE: I appreciate that. I pray continued success and prosperity for you and your family.

LESLIE: And I hope to hear from our listeners today, JackrabbitFactor.com. I look forward to serving you further.

DR DAPHNE: Thank you, thank you and Leslie, please know there’s a platform here. Don’t always wait for me to invite you. You can shoot me an email when you have something to say because I’ll make a platform available for you, my sister.

LESLIE: Thank you so much.

DR DAPHNE: I thank you for doing God’s work and I look forward to building our relationship.

LESLIE: I agree, thank you.

DR DAPHNE: Thank you and for you listeners, I pray that you got the answers you came seeking this morning. You have a list that can help you turn your life around. DR DAPHNE: Good morning and welcome to the “A New Day Show”. I am the queen of the empowered soul and I’m so blessed to be your host this morning. I’m excited about today’s show because I call her the “Jackrabbit Lady” and she’s none other than Leslie Householder. Good morning, Leslie.

LESLIE: How are you, Daphne?

DR DAPHNE: I am so blessed and highly favored. I thank you so much for joining us this morning.

LESLIE: Thank you for having me, it’s a pleasure.

DR DAPHNE: It’s a pleasure. You know, I have been following your work for many years and after I ask you to do your introduction, I’m going to share my story with the first time I read The Jackrabbit Factor. So I want to welcome you, Leslie to the “A New Day Show” and for being so gracious and accepting my invitation to be here. Would you please take this opportunity and introduce yourself to the listeners, and we have quite a few people in the chat room. I’m not sure how many of them are familiar with your work but please take a few minutes and familiarize yourself with the listeners.

LESLIE: Okay, thank you. All my life, all I wanted to do was to be a mother and enjoy the blessings that come from motherhood, and it’s ironic because I was the youngest in my family. I didn’t have any little brothers or sisters. Maybe that’s why I wanted to have children so badly because I enjoyed little ones, and my family lived in Asia for many years during the age that most girls babysit. So I can count on one hand probably how many times I ever babysat. Now, it’s interesting too because I had no experience with children so when I did have children, it was a little bit of a shock to my system at how demanding it was.

DR DAPHNE: Yeah.

LESLIE: But I knew that somewhere through the challenges, there was the greatest joys to be had and I was determined to find that and when my husband and I married, we’d decided that when the children came along, I would stay home with them. That’s what I wanted, that’s what he wanted for his children as well and so it was agreement and we married, and at the time we could not afford to be married but you know, we believed that God would provide the way.

So after, after about one year, we had our first baby and I put my trust in the Lord and said we have decided we’re just going to make this sacrifice, we’ll figure it out and a year later after that, we were deep in debt. We hadn’t been before, we were deep in debt and my husband lost his job and it forced me back to work and you know, I have to admit it was a very, very hard time for me. I began to wonder for the first time if there was a God. I’d never questioned it before in my life. I felt like I was mourning the loss of a dear friend to even question it, but I had the one baby. I’d drop him off at daycare in the morning when it was still dark and I’d pick him up again at the end of the day when it was dark again, and it just was a depressing time.

So we had some friends who told us that “you know, you really ought to come with us to these seminars. It will help you with your thinking, it will help you be able to prosper” and so we started going to seminars and we could tell from the things we learned that wow, we have a lot to learn! Positive thinking instead of griping and all these things, but it had become so cliche that I lacked belief that it would make any kind of difference but there was something about what we were learning that kept us coming back month after month after month, and we literally attended more than a hundred seminars in the next seven years and it was enough to keep me from just throwing in the towel altogether.

It kept me hopeful but nothing like changed and finally one day, I was at one of my darkest moments and I had two children at the time, and we were in a small two-bedroom apartment and it was not in a good neighborhood, and I just decided you know what, I am tired of this. I can’t keep hoping, I can’t justify going to any more seminars. I think I’ll just go to bed and if I can’t have the life I want in reality, I’ll just pretend like I have it and live in a dream world, and I was beating myself up for being so pathetic, you know.

DAPHNE: Like having a pity party.

LESLIE: A pity party and this was a big one. I remember thinking about all the seminar speakers who had told me “dream big, think positive, blah blah blah” and I thought “fine, I will!” So I’m going to bed and I’m going to dream big and think positive in my sleep. What I didn’t realize is that what I did that day, where I thought it was something wrong was exactly what they’d been telling me to do all along, but I hadn’t had any belief that it would make a difference and you know, at that time I was picturing myself in a home of my own and the children running in from behind me, and having a yard and all these different things, and a year later we were living that experience.

I didn’t see a connection between the two until another two years where we were broke at a higher level. I was depressed again. I was at a point in my mentality where I snapped. At one point I even called the police on a neighbor kid who broke my broom. This is where I was coming from. So anyway, along comes another seminar and I was set up again and I told my husband “you know what? This is the last one I’ll go to and that’s it. If nothing changes, I’m so done and I’m just going to have to figure out how to be happy the way things are.” We went and something changed in our hearts that day. We realized the connection between what we were doing wrong and our results, and it was so simple. We turned to each other and our mouths dropped open, and we’re like “Is that all it is? It’s so simple” and we came home in three months tripled our income.

DAPHNE: Leslie, before we continue our conversation, I want to point out to the listeners. You and your husband had gotten $1,000 for your wedding present and when you started off this investment in yourself, you took that thousand dollars out of the bank and you invested it in seminars. You then turned to your credit cards and you accumulated thousands upon thousands of dollars just going to these different seminars, and I wanted to point this out to listeners because you know something? There are a lot of people, Leslie who want a “microwave” result. They want it now! They want it bad! They want it now and they refuse to read a book, even from the library. They don’t want to buy a DVD or they don’t want to do a thing, but I just wanted to let people understand the importance – if you want it bad enough, you got to invest in yourself.

LESLIE: Yes.

DAPHNE: So let us continue our conversation and you need to tell the listeners how many children you have, Leslie.

LESLIE: I have seven now.

DAPHNE: Seven, I notice you say now so am I thinking there are plans for more?

LESLIE: No, I have discovered my mortal limit.

[Laughter]
DAPHNE: I said that because I realized when I looked at the picture and everything, I said “man, they really love children!” I look and I see all the love, not only in your face and your husband’s face but also in the children. There is so much love!

LESLIE: In that picture, my two-year-old wasn’t feeling much love but usually she does.

DAPHNE: You know, I mentioned that I wanted to share my story about your work. I used to have a client, a lady a couple of years ago and during my night shift, I was flicking through and looking for some stuff to read and all of that, and that was my first encounter with The Jackrabbit Factor. I read it and I was crying, I was crying, I was crying and then I went up to change my client and I was still crying, and she asked me what was wrong and I mentioned about what it is I read and how it had touched my heart and everything, and she said “Oh!” She could not believe that I read something that was having me in tears so much. So then she said to me “can you print it for me so I could read it?” So then the next day when I got home, I printed it and brought it for her, and she read it and she was in tears. So since then Leslie, I’m not ashamed to say I’ve been addicted to your work. I just want to thank you for the work and the commitment that you have put into each of our lives.

LESLIE: Thank you.

DAPHNE: Let us go forward now. Thousands of dollars in debt, you have bought and invested into going to a hundred seminars. Let’s now talk about The Jackrabbit Factor.

LESLIE: Okay.

DAPHNE: Because that was kind of your first piece of work that you got known by, right?

LESLIE: After about six months of this breakthrough, we had started to have a savings of up to about $9,000 in the bank and we had never had a savings like that before, and an inquiry came out from the seminar company that said “have you ever thought about teaching what you’d learned?” and I had never wanted a career. I told you I just wanted to be mom but there was something inside of me that had to do this, it was a duty. I felt like if I had been given such a gift that it was my responsibility to share it and so I began to teach seminars. At the time, I had five children and it was very time-consuming and difficult to put them together and reach out to audiences. Most of all, because the people who knew me knew where we came from and who am I to teach them how to do better?
So I struggled with that for a couple of years and finally decided that with another child on the way, I needed to find a way to get the message out without doing seminars so that I wouldn’t feel guilty. So I first actually wrote a series of articles for my good friend, Marnie Pehrson. She is the owner of IdeaMarketers.com and SheLovesGod.com, and she had met me through the Internet and I had helped her with some money questions that she was having, and she asked me to write a series of articles for her readers and so I did an article a week for about eight weeks on the laws, and then that ended up being compiled into what is now Hidden Treasures – Heaven’s Astonishing Help With Your Money Matters.

That was actually the first thing and we were making that available as an e-book for awhile and and I realized that’s kind of meaty. It’s a little more advanced and people needed something to warm them up to understanding it, and so that’s when I decided to write The Jackrabbit Factor in a story that would help people get to a place where Hidden Treasures would make sense, and people ask so, you know, “why did you write the book?” and I said “well, so I can sleep at night!”

It kept me awake, I knew it had to happen and and when it was released, it was a bestseller and ironically, you know I wrote the book so that I wouldn’t have to do seminars at the time. Not that I didn’t enjoy them, I just didn’t have the bandwidth to do it and when it became a bestseller, all of a sudden there was a demand for seminars that wasn’t there before, and I thought well, that kind of backfired, but it did make it easier to get my message to other families who were struggling.

DAPHNE: Yes, it helped you to build credibility and gave you visibility.

LESLIE: Yes.

DAPHNE: You know, it’s like you tell people all the time don’t be in a rush. Jump up on building your credibility, adding value and serving because once you do all those things, there’s no way God will not compensate you, but I think we just get into a ‘get rich quick’ scenario where we want it all now with the microwave with us and a lot of times we lose our blessings. So thank you for sharing that so we can understand that our successes will come, so long as we do our duty and do the things that God wants us to do.

LESLIE: Yes.

DAPHNE: Leslie, let us talk about some of the feedback that you have received.

LESLIE: Oh, if there were to be a comparison between the money that comes from helping people or the feedback that you get, I thrive and live on the feedback every day. Everyday we get emails telling us how the book and how our work has changed lives, how it’s saved lives, how it’s saved marriages, how it has given people wings. That is so gratifying and you know, my husband and I even after releasing the book, we have made mistakes and we’re not perfect, and sometimes we’ve had to face challenges that were difficult as life provides.

You know, no matter where you get, there will always be challenges to overcome and I remember at one point, looking at each other and saying “you know what? If we were to lose everything…” you know, because we’ve made some real estate investments that weren’t the smartest thing to do at a time when we had no business being in the real estate market, but we looked at each other and said “you know what? It doesn’t matter what happens to us because this is what we do. We know how to overcome challenges. We don’t promise that we’re going to take away or make it so that people never have another challenge, but we do have the tools to help them come through on top” and no matter what you face, there is the other side of it and we can help you get to it, and we have tested the principles ourselves time and time again even since the book came out and they are as true as ever, and I’ve learned that no matter what goal you set and no matter how many times you’ve achieved a goal using these principles, the next goal will stretch you.

No matter how good you get, no matter how many times you’ve seen it work, the part of the process is that it must stretch you. That is part of the equation, that’s part of the formula and so I am stretched every day even still but I have confidence knowing that we’re going to win. I have confidence knowing that on the other side of it, we will conquer because we’ve done it time and time, and time again and we know the principles that get you to that point, and thank heavens for the challenges because if we’d stopped having them, we’d stop growing and it’s only through growth that we’re really happy.

There was a contest for the world’s best job. Queensland, Australia was putting this together. They were looking for an applicant to give them, they were going to give them a job that was going to be six-figure income to live on an island paradise and be the ambassador for tourism of Queensland for six months. There were 34,000 applicants and the winner of that contest attributes their success to The Jackrabbit Factor.

DAPHNE: Wow.

LESLIE: That was exciting because I had never met the person who’s from England and I only heard about it because someone in Canada had overheard it on Canada’s version of “Good Morning America”, and so that was a rewarding day. You know, this is going to help other people and those of you who have not read it, it really comes down to being able to recognize, enlist and trust the voice of inspiration, or that gut instinct in your life. The instructions on success, they’re going to be different for each person because each person is at a different place in their life.

DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: So you’ve really got to look inward and find that little voice that kind of steers the way in an almost imperceptible way, and there’s very specific things you can do to trigger that in your life and make it a part of your existence. It’s just an amazing process and I’m just so grateful to have been made aware of it and that I’m able to share it and by the way, The Jackrabbit Factor is a free download. Anybody can read it at no charge at JackrabbitFactor.com.

DAPHNE: Exactly, and you know it’s a great thing you just said, Leslie about each of our successes because we are all unique, we are on different journeys. We start at different places but the important thing is that we continue from where we are, and some of us we can just continue the journey and for others, we have to go back from the beginning and start over, but it really doesn’t matter.

LESLIE: For small goals, as well as big goals, I mean that’s a pretty big goal. I think a lot of people wouldn’t even aspire to do what he did. A family whose son really, really loved music and wanted to go to this Philharmonic concert. I think the tickets were about $50 or $60 or something and they heard on the radio that they were going to give away tickets to the tenth caller, and they applied the principles from the book and they got those tickets, and I know that sounds shallow, it sounds trite but what it comes down to is what is it that you want? What do you need right now? Do you need to find your car keys? It’ll help you do that.

DAPHNE: That’s right, that’s right. It is there for you and you just need to apply the principles and believe that it’s going to work. If it is to be, it’s up to you. So what sacrifices and commitments are you willing to take to have these things work in your life? I tell you something, I’m still amazed by that and as you said, Leslie that you can download it for free, there is no charge and give them your contact information as well now, and then we’re going to go back into conversation.

LESLIE: Yes, the best way to reach me is at JackrabbitFactor.com. There is a little button at the bottom that says “Contact” and that’s where you can reach me.

DAPHNE: Okay, thank you so much and I pray that some of these listeners will see value in to obtaining that material, to get them to where they need to be. In the beginning, when you just got married and you were going through those challenging times and things weren’t working for you, did you encounter an AHA moment that turned things around for you?

LESLIE: Oh, absolutely! You know what, and actually all those years that we were attending seminar, I had an AHA moment every time and what I realized is that just because I had an AHA moment didn’t mean my life was going to change but what I’ve realized since is that success is like opening a combination lock that has several dials, and you know those number locks that you have to dial three different things whatever to line them up, every time I had an AHA moment, it was like putting one of those dials into place. The lock didn’t open with that one AHA moment but one at a time putting them each in place, I was that much closer and there did come a day where the final dial got put into place and the lock sprung open, and that’s why I encourage everybody to invest in yourself. Read another book, go to another seminar or listen to another call like this because every time you have an AHA moment, it’s putting into place the next dial. There’s a finite number of dials that need to be put into place for you before it will spring open.

DAPHNE: That’s right, that’s right and for some of us it’s two, some it’s three and for some it might be a hundred because it depends on how much investment you have done with yourself. So for each of us, it’s different but the important thing is that you keep putting these different things into place because you never know when it’s going to pop open, yeah.

LESLIE: You have to have faith in the process and just keep walking, and so long as you have something you can do, it’s not over. You have a roof over your head, you have a telephone. You know by many people’s standards, you’re already rich and so um…

DAPHNE: Exactly, you know a couple weeks ago we had Dr Myles Monroe on and he was talking about overcoming crisis in his new book and he shared a story about a lady who walked in his office a couple years ago, and said to him that she had lost her job and he said to her “good!” and she was not very happy that he made that statement and she said “well, what do you mean ‘good’?” He said to her “do you have an oven?” and she said “yes” and he asked her how often she uses the oven and she says “on Sundays.” So he said “well no, go use it every day. Get some flour, get some sugar and butter and water, and make some cookies” and to fast forward to now, when he shared her story in the book, she was a multi-millionaire. She now hires seventeen people because she has a cookie factory, and she handed him a check for $10,000 thanking him for helping her to see the way.

LESLIE: Wow.

DAPHNE: So I know there is a cookie maker in all of us, you know. So we have to stick it out and believe in ourselves.

LESLIE: I love it. Sometimes you have to get to the end of everything before you discover that hidden nugget within you. Honestly, that has been my experience more than once, to get to the very end of all I can see and then discover that only there does God show me the next step.

DAPHNE: Exactly. What I have encountered is that I had to separate myself from certain associations because I know God created me for a purpose and I realized that every time I still myself, I get clarity on what God wants me to do and where He wants to take me, and I noticed that over the years, my associations with the love and concern that they have for me that have often tried to derail me off the track that God has me on.

LESLIE: Oh yes! In fact, I’d like to share with you a really quick story that helps you understand why that’s so important, and I’m just pulling it up so keep talking until I find it.

DAPHNE: Yes, I just mentioned to you some of the obstacles that I’ve encountered and I’ve realized from your reply that I was not unique at all in this way, and I think most successful people who stick it out, they have encountered that too but you got to know in your hearts of hearts, and believe that you’re following through on what God has for you to do.

LESLIE: I’d like to throw in too, that those who are listening are already being moved by that inner voice to be here, and whether or not they recognized what it was that drew them to it, that’s how quiet and imperceptible it is but to learn to trust it, and I did find this little story.

DAPHNE: Awesome, awesome. Go ahead.

LESLIE: This is from Richard Bach’s book called Illusions. He says once there lived a village of creatures along the bottom of a great crystal river. The current of the river swept silently over them all, young and old, rich and poor, good and evil. The current going its own way, knowing its own crystal self. Each creature in its own manner clung tightly to the twigs and rocks of the river bottom, for clinging was their way of life and resisting the current what each had learned from birth, but one creature said at last, “I am tired of clinging. Though I cannot see it with my eyes, I trust that the current knows where it’s going. I shall let go and let it take me where it will. Clinging, I shall die of boredom.”

The other creatures laughed and said “fool, let go and that current you worship will throw you, tumbled and smashed against the rocks, and you will die quicker than boredom!” but the one heeded them not and taking a breath, did let go and at once was tumbled and smashed by the current against the rocks. Yet in time, as the creature refused to cling again, the current lifted him free from the bottom and he was bruised and hurt no more, and the creatures downstream to whom he was a stranger cried “see a miracle! A creature like ourselves, yet he flies!” I get choked up every time I read that because I hear that, that comes to me for the things I’ve done and it’s almost as though people are saying “wow, look at her, she flies!” and I tell you, it’s just letting go and trusting. It’s just letting go.

DAPHNE: Oh Leslie, don’t have me crying like that! Oh, it could not have been read at a better time and the one thing I want to say after hearing this, Leslie I want to tell the listeners, follow your heart. When you get that tingling in there, follow it. Don’t take it to anybody else to seek for their affirmation and approval. Wow, that is deep, that is deep, oh.

LESLIE: And yeah, I love the point he makes that yes, he let go and he was smashed by the rocks but he refused to cling no more and in time, was lifted to freedom and so yeah, it’s not going to necessarily be easy, but trusting in the flow in the long run is the better and more abundant way.

DAPHNE: That’s right, because I said there is light at the end of the tunnel and if you cling in the middle, you’ll never see the light. After every rain, there is a rainbow, right? It’s all enough, if it has to be, it is up to us. Oh that was deep, Leslie. That was deep, that is one I will treasure again for the rest of my life.

LESLIE: If there’s time before we finish, I would like to share one more thing that had the same effect on me. God seems to teach all of our most important lessons through symbols and if we can identify the messages contained in his Creation, we can be at peace on our own path to prosperity and abundant life, even in our greatest trials, and I was in my car and an image from nature came to mind, and I had to hurry and run home and write it down because it was so powerful to me.

If you picture a little acorn, imagine it’s like little person who wants to become all that its blueprint promises that it can be, just like we believe and hope that we can become the best that we can be. This acorn is meant to become a grand and mighty oak but for now it’s just a simple nut, dangling by a stem. Sometimes I feel like the little nut. It hangs on the parent tree and reaches high, wanting to see the grand view sweep the vast sky with broad branches. It wants to experience the fluttering of leaves and swinging of limbs but alas, it can barely feel the breeze slowed by the shelter of its protecting parent.

Finally, the parent hears its cry and says “yes, little seed. I have great plans for you. You will scrape the sky and sway in the wind, and the view will be glorious. You’ll provide a home for many creatures giving shelter and food. Your friends will be many, your influence will be vast and you’ll be great and happy.” The little acorn’s heart swells with excitement as it stretches its rigid shell upward to receive the promised reward but instead of enjoying the exhilaration of greatness, it is shaken from the tree and takes a long, hard fall, landing with nothing more than a slight thud, and I’ve been there. I’ve felt that promise within me that you will prosper, that you will do great things and on the other side of that was a great fall instead.

So in fact, after he falls there is no apparent compassion or understanding since its terrible fall seems to go unnoticed. Its very world seems to have crashed down and yet time marches on for everything else around it. The tiny acorn soon finds itself trampled upon, with dirt kicked rudely upon it. Eventually, it’s completely buried in the dark and alone. “Have you forgotten me?” he cries but there is no answer, no explanation, no reprieve.

Instead of rescue, the rain begins to pour and at once, the buried seed believes it may just drown as well. It tries to throw its weight one way and then the other, to force its way out of the ground or to find its way back to the tree but nothing changes. It is as though it is trapped and cannot escape its doom. Weary of the fight, it surrendered to its fate. Holding still with a sigh, the elements around it take notice of its calm demeanor and begin to respond to its mere presence there.

In fact without any more futile struggle, it begins to notice there’s a subtle change taking place within itself. It discovers that as it remains calm, it actually already has all that it needs right there in its immediate environment. It hasn’t perished from being cut off from its parent as it feared it might. Though the fall was frightening and terrible, there it remains as alive and as well as before. No, it hasn’t perished, rather it has sprouted new parts of itself from within that it didn’t even know it could sprout, and the little seed begins to experience the joy that always accompanies growth and soul expansion. Though it hasn’t achieved its ultimate goal, it feels good enough just to grow.

After that temporary period of loneliness and fear, soon the seedling has broken through the crusted earth and can finally see the goal again, Though it has never appeared to be so far away as it is now. However in truth it has never been closer. Be patient little seed, you were created for the greatness that is in store for you. Allow yourself time to develop roots and keep reaching for the Sun. Trust God and success is inevitable. All you need to accomplish the goal will be yours in the right time. Just remember – peace, be still.

DAPHNE: Be still, be still because it’s in the quietness that we receive clarifications and you know, how many times we ask God the question have you forgotten about me? Have you forgotten about me? A couple of months ago, I was going through a turbulent time, Leslie and to be honest, I thought within my heart, all that I do, when? when? when? and I just keep asking God when, and three weeks after that almost every person that I encountered, Leslie had some message for me, telling me and affirming with me how important it is for me to wait, just wait.

I happened during that time to visit a meeting and that man didn’t know me anywhere from Adam. It was the first time he was seeing me and he called me up and he said “God wants me to tell you that he heard your queries about when, when, when but just be still and wait” and the tears rolled on my face, Leslie and I said okay Daphne, let me remove Daphne out of the place, and let me just be patient and keep on Father’s business, and each of us have time in our lives when we question but I want to thank you for sharing that reading with us now, and to let us know it is okay to be patient. It is even okay to be asking “when” so long as when we get the reply from Him when it is, we will obey God’s rule.

LESLIE: Yeah, there is an answer and I am also learned that God has all the answers but He doesn’t provide them until we ask the right question. Sometimes we’re asking the wrong questions and there is no answer to a wrong question. Life’s experiences take us to a place where we begin asking the right question and He has to create a space in our heart for the answer, and there’s not room in our hearts for all of His answers yet and so through experiences He creates places in our heart.

DAPHNE: And you know Leslie when we think we are ready, we are not halfway there. He knows when we are ready and He is just going to give us the reply that we did when He knows that we are ready, right?

LESLIE: Yeah. He doesn’t always come when you want him to but He’s never late.

DAPHNE: Always on time, He’s always on time. Leslie, how do you maintain your focus and inspiration?

LESLIE: I can’t say that I always do.

DAPHNE: Okay.

LESLIE: I mean I go, like I said, I just my inspiration my guidance comes from need or desire. If I want something different for my family, that’s a desire that creates a need that gets me asking questions and seeking answer and so if you’re not trying to go anywhere or accomplish anything, you know your inspiration bank is going to probably be very low. For a person who allows themself to dream big, to pay attention to those thoughts and feelings in your heart that says you were created for greatness, you were created to make a difference in this world. There is something you have to offer and your experiences and your challenges that you are trying to overcome now become value for other people who are also trying to find answers.

So it’s your duty to solve those problems to find your way out so that you can show the way for others and create bridges for other people. That’s what will bring you so much fulfillment in life. That is what will make it so that when you are on the last day of your life, you can think back with gratitude for the work that God was able to do through you because you were willing to be determined to find the solutions, that you had an expectation that you would, that you would not give up until you did and even if it takes until your last day on Earth to solve the problem, are you committed to solving it?

DAPHNE: You are known all over the world and you work alongside some of America’s best but I’m going to go out on the limb in saying that your success has not been without struggles and challenges. Would you like to share with us some of those challenges that you have encountered and however you still stuck it out?

LESLIE: Well, one big struggle for me was at a time when and and I have had many, many mentors over the year and I don’t want to discount that, but I remember at one time where a mentor of mine, I had this person up on a very, very high pedestal and as I got to know them, and I learned so much and my life changed so much because of things I had learned from this person, and then some things happened that were very disappointing and made it very difficult for me because the mentor had fallen off the pedestal, and through that experience I learned that the greatest guidance you’ll ever receive is from your own heart, and sometimes your heart will lead you to a teacher and that’s perfectly in line with God’s plan but you need to understand that the teacher is not who you should idolize ever.

DAPHNE: That’s right.

LESLIE: And that was a hard lesson you know, for me to feel like this person had done so much good, how could they do or say that? It was hard to pick myself up. I began to wonder if everything I had learned was false, and I just had to realize you know, no this is just a person who was moved to do and say the things that they’ve done and said and honestly, in hindsight, I look back on that and I honestly, I wonder if that person allowed themselves to fall off the pedestal in front of me to teach me a lesson. That maybe it was on purpose, I mean this person was brilliant enough that I wouldn’t put it past them but it was a hard lesson for me to learn, and to find my own wings and listen to my own voice and trust it more than I trusted, you know, I will listen to other people’s advice but I will always check it against my own feelings.

DAPHNE: That’s right, that’s right because what you just share, a lot of people and churches go through that same experience because I was having a conversation with a woman not too long ago, and she used to worship at the same church I worship and I had not seen her in awhile. So I asked her what happened and she said to me, she was no longer coming to the church because the senior pastor allowed the other pastor to preach at the main service and I asked her the question ‘are you coming to worship and praise God, or are you worshipping and I called the pastor’s name? Because people put human beings on these pedestals and we have to understand that we should learn lessons from people, and we should separate the lessons from who the individual is because as human beings, we are going to do stuff that people are not really accepting about us because they still have us on high pedestals.

LESLIE: Right.

DAPHNE: Which was the situation in your case, and thank you Leslie for sharing that. How important Leslie, it is for an individual to have a mentor or a coach in their career life?

LESLIE: I’m going to answer this honestly and I don’t know if it’s exactly what you hope I will say, but I think that a person needs to have a vision of a better self, a place where they are trying to aspire to go, or become or do, and then wait upon God to show them the way. Sometimes He will lead them to a coach or a mentor, and I think we should always look to other people who have what we want and try to learn lessons that they have learned. It can save us a lot of time and be willing to look to someone who can give you a new perspective on what you are experiencing, and sometimes it takes someone on the outside to show it to you and it can become so obvious, so quickly.

Sometimes and you’ll know this in your heart, you might say “right now, I need to look inward and just follow the inspiration that I am getting on my own” or I’m going to speak that or I’m going to go to scripture, or other books that can help me but I believe and this has been a pattern for centuries and you can find this in all of the ancient works, that people are ministered to and encouraged, and strengthened, and shown the way by other people. God uses other people to help His children. You know, I’m not going to say everybody needs to go get a coach today unless they’re feeling like, you know I need a coach, and it’s because God is going to put that into their heart, you need to find the next teacher that I have lined up for you.

DAPHNE: That’s right, that’s right. That’s a great answer, Leslie because for me, what my coaches and mentors do for me, is allow me to stretch. They are not making my decisions. They allow me to stretch and help me to come up with a plan B, C or D with the original plan that we started on the conversation. When we started the conversation because they are actually to me, they are a sounding board versus an advisor.

LESLIE: Right.

DAPHNE: And as you say in each of our hearts, we know what we need and you have to listen to your heart but I know, there are some people who don’t have the support in their families and all of that, and they need somebody to help them stretch or put their goals in priority.

LESLIE: Right.

DAPHNE: How do you over the years, Leslie, how do you select your mentors?

LESLE: I make a list. I make a list of the qualities of a person and experiences, and I haven’t always done this but this has been my process more recently. Before, it was just someone was placed in my path and it felt right but more recently, where I was feeling an emptiness and I was reaching out and searching for someone who could help me in the place I was at. I remember one time I made a list that I wanted it to be someone who was aspiring to do great things, someone who had a large family, who had a lot of children who was a mother who believed as I did spiritually. I wanted to find out if there was anybody out there who was trying to do all the things I was doing because at the time, my mentors were businessmen or women who had a career but not a family, or you know and I thought who is out there like me who has done something like this?

DAPHNE: Yeah, anybody else.

LESLIE: It took me six months to a year but all of a sudden, about ten people with that description fell into my life and I had a whole support team.

DAPHNE: That’s something, isn’t that something? What they say, put it out and it will be supplied.

LESLIE: Yes.

DAPHNE: What is your take on journaling, Leslie?

LESLIE: Oh, it’s vital. Oh my word, you know journaling and whether it’s in a blog or it’s in a regular journal or whatever it is, whenever you face a challenge, just get it out on paper – even in all its ugliness. I used to tell people only write positive things but I now say let it all out, get it out, get it released but always, always, always end it with optimism, saying “yes, all of that happened but I am determined to find the way through this. I look forward to my victory.” Always end it with expectation of positive.

DAPHNE: Okay Leslie, I just heard something that we have 90 seconds, so now you also have a promotion that you’re doing now where people can take advantage of different work that you have put together.

LESLIE: Oh yes, in fact we have the home study program. Like I said, after the book came out, I started doing seminars again and started teaching a lot of people in person and again, felt like I needed to reclaim some family time and create a program that was better than the live seminar because when you have a home study program, this one is actually designed to take 12 weeks and there is only so much information you can digest in three days but there is so much that you can learn and apply, and experience in 12 weeks.

We’ve attended seminars that cost us more than $3,000 and I guarantee there is more in this program than we ever received in anything like that. So there’s never been a better time to get started with a program that will transform your life at no risk. You can look at it for 30 days and if you don’t believe it’s going to make a big difference then return it for a refund. So the place you go to take a look at that and it explains everything about it, I won’t take the time to explain it here but take a look at ProsperTheFamily.com.

DAPHNE: Thank you for being generous with your time and for the listeners, I greatly appreciate each and every one of you and Leslie, I thank you and we will be communicating later on.

LESLIE: Thank you, Daphne.

DAPHNE: And I pray that you’ll be back soon enough. Just keep doing God’s work, my sister.

LESLIE: And you, too.

DAPHNE: Thank you much and what the listeners, remember you have a destiny. Follow it and I hope there is something that you have heard from Leslie today, that can help you to accomplish all the wonderful things that God has set out for you to do.
