When Things Look Bleak

I had set some lofty goals, and as the target date was approaching, things appeared to be bleak, like the feeling in this photo above. It took all my energy to continually push aside doubtful thoughts that the changes I wanted to realize were still possible for me.

For days I was plagued with questions:

“What if it doesn’t work out?”
“What if I miss my goals?”
“What will I do if the resources I need don’t come through?”

Finding Relief from Heavy Burdens

In December 2012 I was asked to speak at my local church congregation’s sacrament meeting. I hadn’t planned on sharing my ‘talk’ publicly because my blog readership is made up of people from a wide variety of religious backgrounds and belief systems, and I have always striven to focus on principles and precepts that people of faith around the world all share in common. Gurus are Human

I received an email this week that spawned an interesting conversation. I’ll share it here. Hector wrote: How are your teachings different from all the dozens of gurus advertising out there? I’m genuinely confused by inconsistencies from the gurus. For example, Wattles wrote books about health and riches and then he died at 53, lost his bid for public office and to my knowledge he was still scrambling economically. The author of Science of Miracles, Max Long Freedom committed suicide due to leg cancer while his group was in disarray and his wife left him. Arthur Ray is in jail. I honestly would like to
