Adversity before Prosperity

When a person sets a goal using the principles in The Jackrabbit Factor (or laws of thought as described in Hidden Treasures: Heaven’s Astonishing Help with Your Money Matters), sometimes life seems to gets harder first. Has that happened to you? If so, you’re not alone.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve set goals using the principles, and things seemed to fall apart before they got better. In fact, in my 18+ years of studying the principles, I’ve learned that this phenomenon is completely normal and, in fact, sometimes necessary.

To help explain why, let me borrow an analogy from Price Pritchett’s book, You2 (“You Squared”):

Major undertakings often get messy in the middle.

If you have an internal injury or ailment that requires surgery, then before you can become well, the doctors have to cut you open. Take a snapshot in time of you laying on the table, unconscious, with an incision in your torso, and it would appear that there has been a murder in the room.

Are you well yet? No. Are you worse off than you began? Well, that’s debatable. After all, it appears that things have only gotten worse.

But when it comes to surgery, you know that’s not the case. While you’re laying there, in most cases, the situation is completely under control, and you’re entirely right on track to the goal of wellness.

Changing your life is no different; it is like undergoing major surgery. Take a snapshot at any given moment in time during the process, and it may appear that things have only gotten worse. But the success you seek requires determination and a focus on the end result, with the understanding that if things appear messy in the middle, it’s all just part of the process.

You have not gone backwards; rather, you’re probably right on track.

It’s easy to think positive when things are going well. It’s when things appear bad that you have a golden opportunity to think truth in spite of the appearances. And when you do, you initiate an instantaneous response of unseen help, continued support, alignment of resources, and the orchestration of solutions preparing their way before you.

The challenge is an opportunity that most people overlook, resist, or outright fight. But now you know that it is actually a gift. When you choose to see it with excitement for the hidden benefit it must contain, your world begins to shift very rapidly. Test it. Prove me wrong!

Life has a way of bringing opportunities disguised as challenges. If you refuse to give emotional energy to the setbacks (yes, deal with them, but do it unemotionally), and instead maintain emotional enthusiasm and expectancy for the good hiding in it (no matter how long it takes to find it), then you pass the test, and enjoy the reward.

I guarantee that all who enjoy true success, those people you admire, have endured the same process. You see their success but are seldom aware of the internal struggles they overcame.

The process is predictable and unchanging. Most people start on this path, face challenges, and conclude that this “law of attraction” thing is a hoax. Those who experience the breakthrough they’re looking for, in hindsight, will attest to this process.

So when you face opposition, see it for what it is, and realize that it wouldn’t be there if you weren’t on your way to somewhere fabulous. Say it out loud: “This is GREAT!” and keep going.

Remember: The adversity IS the opportunity. The reward is literally a product of adversity, mental toughness, and tenacity. Mental toughness and tenacity without adversity has no meaning. Without adversity, the formula is incomplete and there can be no success.

So start calling the adversity in your life good instead of bad, and you will begin to find the solutions you need. Resources will open up. Unseen help will come to your aid.

I thank my Father in Heaven for teaching me this – I feel like I’m finally beginning to understand why there really is no need to fear. Everything we need is as His command, and as we choose to believe, choose to have faith in Him, and choose to let go of our love affair with fear, drama, and worry, we discover that there really was never anything to be fearful about. Lack is an illusion.

It’s not a question of whether resources and help is available, it’s a question of whether we’ll muster the courage to put these principles to the test.

I dare you.  Try it for a week – and let me know what happens!

Are You Making it Harder Than it Has to Be?

When making a phone call, if you dial the numbers right, it works. Children who have never used a phone often have trouble making it work right for a while, just as we can have trouble making the laws of success work to achieve our goals.

It takes practice!

When a goal doesn’t happen the way you expected, it’s easy to get discouraged. That IS the COMMON thing to do. The uncommon thing to do is brush yourself off and ask the hard question:

“Where did I go wrong? What more do I need to know? In what way am I making this harder than it has to be?”

Most people ask those questions, rhetorically, but not with a real intent of finding answers. And in fact, sometimes they don’t WANT the answer, because it’s just easier to say, “That law of attraction thing doesn’t work.” Truly, it’s easier to blame our failure on things outside of ourselves.

On the other hand, uncommon people ask hard questions with a firm intent to find the answers. They seek for answers, even if it means they have to admit that there may be more to learn.

Uncommon people get uncommon results. Uncommon people enjoy an uncommon lifestyle. If they ask hard questions and find answers, then next time they pursue a goal, they can apply new understanding, and get better results.

Or not…

Here’s why: For me, this question / answer / new attempt process happened HUNDREDS of times before I actually saw it really work even ONCE. I know hundreds of ways it DOESN’T work. Each failed attempt showed me something else that I needed to tweak about my approach.

Think about it… The first time a kindergartner tries to use the telephone, chances are good that s/he will dial the number wrong. When that happens, it would be foolish to say, “This phone doesn’t work!” The PHONE works fine. The user just needs to be extra careful to dial ALL the right numbers, in the right order, with no extra numbers inserted along the way.

The law of attraction works FINE. You’ve just got to be careful to dial ALL the right numbers in the right order, and not insert any extra ones along the way. When you do it right, it unfailingly works the way it should.

And the good news is that when you see it work once, you gain confidence, and eventually realize that it can work for you EVERY time. In fact, it can become second-nature, just like using the phone. Then, after experiencing some success, you discover that it can even be easier than THAT… like discovering the redial button.

But I have some BAD NEWS…

The one element that does NOT go away, no matter how slick you are, or how smart you get, is the TEST to exercise faith when all appearances indicate impending disaster. Yes, no matter how good you get at the process, and no matter how much money you make, you’ll always get plenty of opportunity to exercise faith, make sacrifices, and stretch yourself OUT of the comfort zone to accomplish the next goal.

You just get to a point where you learn to accept the difficult nature of the process. Sorry to burst your bubble.

The knowledge I share here does not avert the challenges, it just gives you the power to overcome them when they show up… the power of subconscious goal achievement in spite of difficulty… the power to have PEACE of MIND through the process.

And yes, you CAN HAVE your victory. You can have the MONEY you need. You can find the job, or succeed in business… You can have the FREEDOM you seek!

Just try again, and learn from your mistakes. That’s how you win.

Find out what else you may need to know, so that you can achieve that oh-so-elusive goal. I want to help. Read the Jackrabbit Factor story free, so I can reveal the common mistakes people make with the law of attraction; or if you’re ready for more advanced answers, start the 12-week Mindset Mastery Program.

You can succeed!

Hope Floats the Financial Boat

Think for a minute about the natural reaction of non-swimmers who are thrown into deep waters.

Can you picture it?

They panic, and thrash violently. They become consumed with the fear of, “What if I go under and can’t come back up?!” Full of adrenaline and to avoid the worst, they claw and pound the water, in a frantic effort to stay afloat.

Eventually, if they don’t get some help, they go under out of sheer exhaustion.

This is also a vivid metaphor for people who feel like they’ve been thrown overboard without a life jacket financially.

Maybe they intentionally “abandoned ship”, leaving a regular source of income to go out on their own in search of another boat, or maybe it happened in a storm. However they got there, they may feel like a non-swimmer, fully exposed to choppy waters, surrounded by mysterious depths, and at risk of drowning in bills and other pressures.

In a situation like that, the natural inclination is to panic, and work too hard frantically trying to stay afloat – ultimately wearing themselves out and sinking into despair.

The truth is, that the principles which keep a new swimmer afloat in the water are the same principles that keep you afloat financially:

1) Take a deep breath,
2) Relax, and
3) Keep your chin up

That’s how you stay afloat in the water, and that’s how you stay afloat financially, too.

Stop for a moment and let the following statement sink in (no pun intended):

Having money does not create peace of mind; it begins with peace of mind.

Before you can learn to swim efficiently, you’ve got to learn how to FLOAT. Not just in swimming, but in your finances, too. I’m convinced that people who enjoy true abundance live abundantly, not because everything always goes their way, but because they have learned how to float and swim in choppy waters without being overcome by exhaustion.

And floating only works when you stay calm. When you are calm and keep you chin up, you float; not just in water, but with finances, too. Staying calm allows your mind to be relaxed enough to notice the inspiration that helps you solve the problem. Don’t cut off the Source of your answers by freaking out!

The cure for fear is not courage, the real cure for fear is knowledge. When you know WHY you can be at peace, it’s easier to feel peace. Choosing peace of mind also keeps you in the path of all the opportunities and resources you’ll need. (Read Hidden Treasures FREE – to find out why this works.) Freak out, and you jump off the path.

Whether you leave a ship by choice or not, finding yourself in the water can be terrifying, especially if you never learned how to swim. But hope and optimism literally and financially make you more buoyant.

Discover the truth of this and you may also discover that swimming peacefully allows you to get where you want to go without a boat at all. (A shout-out to all you entrepreneurs out there!)

So, breathe… relax… keep your chin up… and trust the current to take you to the next boat or port on your journey to financial freedom.

The Tide Always Comes Back

The Law of Vibration (you may have heard people call it the Law of Attraction) is a natural law of the Universe. In other words, so long as you live in harmony with the law, all that you need to accomplish your goals can become available to you in a natural way.

But one less-discussed aspect of the law is how we need to maintain peace of mind during the process. We need to calm down and allow nature to run its course. Let me cite three examples in nature:

  1. You don’t rush a baby; whenever possible, you let it have 9 months to develop.
  2. You can’t rush a seedling; pulling on it to make it grow faster will cause it to die.
  3. You can’t rush the tide; it must go all the way out before it will begin to come all the way back in.

Life has its ups and downs. It is the natural rhythm of life. In order to succeed, we must learn to ride the tide instead of fighting it. How do we do that? How do we continue to hope in the middle of a setback?

When you’re on a “down,” know that the up is on its way, just as the tide comes in and goes out, predictably. When you worry that things are going badly and you can’t see the end of your misfortune, just remember that nature simply doesn’t operate that way.

Don’t get trapped in a downward emotional spiral by thinking that things are bad and only going to get worse! That is just as absurd as watching the tide go out and thinking:

“Oh dear. There goes our shoreline forever! I suppose the whole ocean is going to disappear!”

Be patient. Look for evidence that the tide is returning. Look for evidence that things are turning around for YOU. Look for evidence of it on your horizon. If you look hard enough, you’ll find it. And as you focus on an upturn of events, you will begin to experience more of them. By law.

If the tide doesn’t seem to turn around as quickly as you hoped, think on this: you must plant your dream seeds properly (as outlined in The Mindset Fundamentals Ecourse), and then relax. You’ve got to simply go about your activities in a peaceful way, knowing that because you planted the seed, nature is now taking time to do her part, too.

How can you apply these ideas?

Let’s switch back to the seed analogy. The minute you start to feel anxiety about your goal is the same minute you must remember the seedling. Just because you don’t see the fruit yet, know that it is coming. You might not even see the sprout, but you trust that something is happening beneath the soil.

That’s how I try to approach my goals. I plant them by doing what Richard did in The Jackrabbit Factor, and then I take the actions that come to mind in a calm, deliberate way. I might go a long time before I see any evidence that my efforts have made a difference. But I know they have, so I keep on keeping on, expecting that in time, I’ll see a sprout.

Furthermore, when I see a little sprout pop through the surface of the ground, I don’t pull on it to try and make it bring fruit immediately. Patience and confidence are two of the most critical elements of success.

Confidence is important because it is by your faith that the seed continues to grow. Don’t forget how much influence your thoughts have over the circumstances you experience.

Maintain faith. Believing is a choice. You can choose to believe in ultimate success.

No matter how bad things appear to be now, nature guarantees a turn for the better. Look forward to it.
